I’m not sure if Seven would mind as NBC Today is just a simulcast from NBC I think and they are 2 different studios only affiliated by programming and morning shows for Australia

Do Seven really need to start a watermark advertising Australian Idol when it’s not starting for 3 weeks? They are annoying at the best of times. Maybe show respect for your viewers. Or maybe you’re just desperate for ratings? It seems a cheap version of Idol even worse then last year. Which isn’t going to compete with MAFS so maybe they aren’t trying anymore? Pethetic.

Where specifically on 9Now is that one from? The one I posted earlier from a live stream (non broadcast channel) had and just checked still has the 9WWOS watermark.
Great to see 9Now gets its own official watermark and an Olympics one at that.

The size of that watermark is pretty good. Two things though:
- Considering the WWOS watermark which is used during Nine’s AO coverage is typically smaller than the watermark used during the rest of the year, the regular version we’ll see during sports like the NRL might be too big.
- It’s unnecessary for the Paris 2024 (and the other variants used on Stan & 9Now) bit to be on the screen constantly. I can understand if it appears for a bit coming out of ad breaks (or every now and then on Stan/9Now) but the constant reference is unnecessary alongside the Olympic rings.

As if there couldn’t be anymore watermarks on Nine’s platforms for the summer of tennis… This one is on 9Now’s Aus Open highlights videos (taken from last night’s 5 hour Kubler slugfest), the 9WWOS watermark is used, but appears odd looking, larger and ‘puffier’, also the standard bottom-right VOD 9Now watermark is still there:

Yes as someone said about the one the ABC were using, this is to cover up the Olympics watermark.

It seems strange that Nine, who are exclusive rights holders and would have access to the clean raw feeds (as seen across their various platforms to insert the various watermarks) that they couldn’t do this for 9Now vod? Rather than use a ‘dirty’ feed of the as-broadcast watermarked from 9Gem last night.
I’m guessing whoever is packaging and uploading the highlights videos (on demand rather than live streaming) to 9Now, is from a different team, maybe not at WWOS Melbourne Park but back at 9Now proper in Sydney offices or wherever based. Nine needing to do their own cover-ups just seems silly, plus there is already one there (the “9Now” watermark!)

Maybe they just assume that other networks rip highlights from 9Now sometimes and are covering themselves in case the IOC ask them why something is being reproduced?

I do not particularly find this necessary because it just takes away from the watermark and I think every single viewer knows about 7plus by now. It worked with Nine better because it physically fit under the watermark perfectly.
Yeah, true and we’ve seen that happening. @OnAir has also pointed out the equipment/software used by newsrooms sometimes isn’t set-up or times correctly and can miss a recording.
But they could use Stan Sport instead, also gives them even better quality, full replays and more videos and no “9” logo (which you’d think especially as a bitter rival they’d prefer to use the Stan name than 9). They could also source some content from AO official (YouTube/social media etc). Unless they’re not allowed to and have to use the official domestic rights holder or have been told they have to, Seven were somehow sourcing clean feeds a few years ago and suddenly stopped and then made Nine’s watermarks more prominent, like the two networks or AO had had words with them.

On another note, networks could record 9Now live streams instead of broadcast (either the broadcast live streams or raw/world feeds), which IMO are far better quality then broadcast and they don’t have the Olympics watermarks so there’d be no dramas there, as well as looking uniform as every match is available.
