They both contain the word Prime, the font looks similar (albeit one has all uppercase letters) but that’s where the similarities stop.

Wind then clock back to the This is Where We Live era and I’d agree. 
Makes sense. Event truck output has scoreboard but no watermark. Watermark is inserted at BCM to allow it to be different on Seven and 7mate, not include “LIVE AND FREE” for delayed games as well as for supply to Fox Sports.

Both 7TWO and 7mate had LIVE AND FREE watermark during tonight’s replays of Olympics events from yesterday. It lasted a few minutes before they disappeared.
Correct, Prime NZ launched in 1998 with the same graphics, but diverted off in 2001 with their own identity (especially as they were courting 9 at the time).
Any similarities since 2004 (when SKY NZ bought Prime) will be purely coincidental.

Yeah but it just seems strange nevertheless having live sports coverage hijacking 24 hour news channels

They haven’t been putting it up for the last few days.
I think they couldn’t be bother changing from the regular one to the “live and free” one when required in and out of highlights and live, so they are just going to the regular one all the time now.

It looks like 3 have got some ideas from Nine’s previous In-Program Promotional Watermarks for The Block!
Although generally speaking, are these types of watermark as common on New Zealand TV as they are on Australian TV?
They have been popping up more and more in recent years.

It’s odd that given they watermark a clean feed they don’t bother putting the Prime7 logo on there.

No, they are using “Live & Free” during live events.
(i.e.) ~9:15pm>
Its just that “In Rio Today” is both live (studio) & replays (events), saves switching back & forth. Also makes it seem ‘non-replay’.

Have noticed SCA are switching between using the old and current 7 logo also. Unsure why though…
