It’s always been on Late Show, even back in the 90’s on Nine.
As above, it’s been on the international live content feed for a very long time. I am actually impressed they haven’t really tampered with it that much over the years because it is a very good watermark.
It is on any content that could be newsworthy. Ten actually covered it for a while using the Ten or Eleven logo until after CBS bought it out.
So the watermark is there because these shows are turned around in a very short amount of time.
It’s pretty much the literal broadcast to the US public audience, cut up and compiled to be rebroadcast here.
I’d say it’d be a lot easier these days to get a clean feed, but that would involve effort changing a system that currently works fine.
I don’t think CBS provide a clean feed at all.
From what I’ve seen the CBS watermark is on screen immediately after the break (on all their non-news programmes), so not even the few seconds clean other networks allow for their affiliates to show their own logo before the network one appears.
I can’t speak to what the US do, but I would assume they’d provide clean feeds to their affiliates, just like our networks do here. 10 provide a clean feed to WIN for them to put their own branding on it.
The Late Late Show with James Corden is literally recorded off US TV, as they only have a few hours to compile the show here in Sydney for it to be played here.
What I was saying is that these days it wouldn’t take much to simply transfer the segments as files from the US instead of taking a dirty off-air feed.
Other US shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The View, etc would have much more time for turning around.
Not a clean feed but some affiliates simply tag their channel number or modified logo onto the watermark when they come back from break. Same with NBC, last time I looked.
ABC leaves a 10 second time for locals to insert their return graphic.
WHY CAN’T THEY HAVE A TRANSPARENT WATERMARK. IT’S NOT HARD GUYS.
Damn 10 pays $400k and it still gets lumped with a CBS watermark?
I wonder if it’s ViacomCBS insisting that.
I doubt ITV will have a CBS watermark tonight in The UK
It’s WIN we are talking about here.
They HAVE to have the loudest watermarks possible.
I hope whoever they sign with later this year (Ten or Nine) tells WIN to cool it with their watermarks and branding in general.
