Do you mean that it is upscaled?
When 7HD arrived in Melbourne the show was in upscaled HD. Tonight is just plain SD.
Oh reallyā¦ I would have thought House Rules would be produced in HDā¦ not good.
Those two things are not different. Unless thereās black bars around the picture, they are upscaling it to HD to show it on 7HD.
No HD watermark on 9HD in Perth atm
I think there was no upscaling for House Rules tonight as it involved live crosses so the pictures were a bit blurry on 7HD.
Again, youāre misunderstanding what upscaling is - it is simply resizing the video to go from the SD resolution to the HD one. If they didnāt upscale, it would look like this on the HD channel
The difference with a live cross is that the source footage that is being upscaled is already heavily compressed, so the main benefit of television networks upscaling is reduced.
On a native HD television, upscaling has to happen to SD content regardless - so if youāre watching an SD channel, the TV has to upscale that to your televisionās native resolution, if youāre watching SD content on a HD channel, the network has done that for you, from their higher quality source. As such, even if something is produced in SD, when watching the HD channel, it will generally look better than the SD channel.
Win watermark looks great. Best on FTA now.
There is no such thing as a āgreatā watermark - unless itās one that is completely invisible to the naked eye.
I believe the correct term regarding watermarks is the āleast worstā, not ābestā
In which case SC Tas is the clear winner in the best watermark competition.
Donāt forget Southern Cross GTS/BKN Spencer Gulf & Broken Hill as well.
NBN in Northern NSW had a pretty decent watermark prior to them launching 9HD.

Hereās one from earlier, Ten HD sports watermark minus the āLive And Freeā text:
Oddly, the Ten logo appears to be upconverted SD while the āHDā text addition is in native HD.
that looks horrible, even the āHDā text.
Iām on the opposite side of things
As in thinking itās great, like everything else with TEN?
So true.
