Nine Perth watermark in 2008 with the ugly dirty feed. Note the watermark isn’t in position with the National network.
Thank god STW is not owned by WIN anymore!
Agreed. Thank heavens no more dirty feed watermarks for Nine Perth and Adelaide!
A couple of weeks ago NBC moved its watermark into the 16:9 safe zone. The only one of the big 3 so far to do so.
CBS watermark was 16:9 for a while, how come they moved it back to 4:3?
Didn’t they have a separate 16.9 safe watermark for the HD and SD feeds? I’m sure I remember seeing (via Ten) some sort of “CBS HDTV” animation while coming back from breaks on Letterman.

Have they only just moved it to the bottom left now?
It’s been bottom left since at least the early 2000s. It’s currently 4:3 safe, I don’t ever recall it being moved to wide-screen safe.
Little reason to in the US, where any SD channels are 4:3 or letterboxed 16:9 in a 4:3 frame. Also a lot of affiliates simply downconvert the HD feed for their SD channel, rather than running two streams (which our networks do to allow for breakaway programming and HD watermarks). This means that watermarks and graphics can’t be 16:9 safe in the US without being cut off on the SD variant.
Yes about 2 weeks ago NBC moved their watermark to be 16:9 safe. Fox HD has been like that for a couple of years but CBS, ABC, CW are still 4:3.
Found these in a quick search:
Approx 2 weeks ago
One weekago
It can be seen (sort of) in this promo video (you get the idea)
Reminds me how all the Aussie networks had their logos and program info after commercial breaks, on the left, in the days before watermarks.
Ten has had the program info on the left. Seven have only just gone back to using the left hand side again. But their logos and watermarks remain on the right.
TEN’s watermark for Long Lost Family is ridiculously big & intrusive.
Seven using Olympic rings on their watermark.
It will be a one-off because it is a special episode of MKR with teams cooking food for athletes and coaches.
I saw that. I assumed that’s because of the MKR Athlectics special?
Yep, as JohnsonTV mentioned.
If Seven’s Olympics watermarks were because of the MKR Athletics special…then why are there similar watermarks on 7TWO and 7mate?
For the record, 7Flix is currently just running it’s standard watermark.
Good point.
I wonder if this means that Seven will be showing the Olympics on 7, 7Two and 7mate (different events at different times but not all the time) but not 7flix?
