Vegas Shooting

Agreed. Seven needs to really beef up the strengths of their Sydney-based reporters to rival Nine’s team, and I think this is a really good opportunity.

Does it really matter which foreign reporter they send? As long as they get the reports done, then it doesn’t matter who they send (as long as it’s not some idiot reporter).

No live cross in Brisbane, just announced as a report and then a hard cut back to Georgie at the end.

This Morning on ITV had it as a headline at the top of the program.

Live Cross to Manchester.

Considering Mike Amor told 3AW radio listeners on Friday afternoon she is their US Bureau producer, I beg to differ

Well that’s strange then, I could have sworn we had a whole discussion about her moving back to Australia earlier in the year complete with social media posts and photos of her packing her house up.

Maybe she has moved back.

Sadly this (yesterday) was just stating the obvious:

PS:

And Mark Kenny (today):

America’s lawmakers stand in the blood of their citizens, spinelessly paying lip-service to their loss while peddling a pervasive fairy tale in which guns connote freedom and independence, and where a horrendous death toll is somehow acceptable.

Plus, so this is how the terrorist saw the police coming:

Here’s how the late night shows in the US handled the Vegas shooting in their opening monologues.

https://www.infowars.com/forensic-psychiatrist-suggests-gunman-may-have-deliberately-targeted-conservatives/

As the motive behind Sunday night’s massacre in Las Vegas remains unclear, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Michael Welner suggested that gunman Stephen Paddock may have deliberately targeted conservatives and that CNN was partly to blame.

Welner went on to assert that “CNN is going to have to answer for how they demonize gun enthusiasts and how CNN actually contributes to mass shootings.”

In the sense that CNN, like all American outlets, sensationalises the fuck out of gun massacres and makes it more likely for copy-cats, he’s accidentally partially correct.

Waleed Aly: The Project host’s despairing response to Las Vegas massacre

…a sibling of a person of interest who was later cleared by Vegas police of wrongdoing—had social-media attachments to left-leaning subjects such as MoveOn.org and MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show. Both 4chan and right-wing misinformation sites like Gateway Pundit began spreading the false name as a suspect while calling the person a “far-left loon.”

American analysis of cable news’ coverage. Fascinating read.

That phrase is overused.

“Look, we have a tragedy. What happened is, in many ways, a miracle,” Trump said as he departed the White House for a trip to Puerto Rico on Tuesday morning local time.

Despite the historic number of people killed, Trump has repeatedly stressed that the shooting could have been even worse.

59 people murdered is, from any angle, not a miracle.
