Thats similar to cartoon style animation used in an Ad. Im sure AI is, and is going to be used in that sort of context. They are not trying to deceive the public into thinking the images are real. What we are trying to highlight and “call out” is the use of AI to create potentially deceiving images or content.
I’m mostly asking what someone just has a TV on their roof for…
I don’t know how you do stop it. If someone is working to a tight budget, the urge to use AI is going to be there.
The big boys will also be using it too as a way to slash costs.
I’m thinking one of the ways might be to ban use of AI on anything that get state or federal government funding or is for ABC and SBS - if those grants are designed to get people employed in the sector, using AI is counter productive.
Its going to be used. Just how it is used, is the question.
If used to intentionally deceive, by creating false or misleading content. That would otherwise not or occured. Or manipulating existing footage with AI to create identify change or change facts. If found that it was used this way should incur heavy penalties as a deterrent. Im no law expert, so im not sure how that might look.
I just know that this technology will be used to deceive viewers into thinking it is actual real life content.
Basically AI content creation technology is designed to deceive. We have created a tool to trick ourselves. Smart aye! Saying that, there are good uses for AI computing power. In lots of industries.
Cripps in Tasmania used AI to create content for a new TV ad promoting their new Crumpet Sourdough Splits.

Definitely AI slop. Tankworld’s ads are also airing on 9HD Wollongong BTW but are best seen between 5am-6am on weekdays, at least from the ad blocks I’ve seen on there.
Meanwhile this Adelaide ad currently airing on Channel 7 also has AI slop footage…
I saw an ad on TV over the weekend where the announcer sounded like it was AI generated.
Media writer Dan Barrett wrote on Nine’s poor use of AI in the animated opener of Christmas with Delta 2025.
The Aussie TV network screwing up its brand with AI slop
In a similar article in Mumbrella, Dr Mumbo also mentioned that sequence also showed the animated version of Delta gaining a third hand.
The Today promo that aired during Carols tonight also uses AI with Sarah and Karl performing an ice skating routine.
AI slop strikes again.
The Courier Mail reports it included an aerial night view of Brisbane depicting what appears to be two Story Bridges, positioned at either end of the CBD.
The video also features high-rise buildings that do not exist and portrays the Brisbane River as widening dramatically into what resembles a bay on the city’s western edge.
At least they’re not using 10 year old city shots that we see depicted in Melbournes promos.
Great work Sydney ![]()
I’d rather the older shots, at least they are accurate.
True. An old view is better than an obviously incorrect one.
Something not right about the original article. The video that accompanies the article doesn’t resemble Brisbane “with 2 Story Bridges”. None of the bridges are the Story Bridge and the buildings don’t look to be from Brisbane. The water also doesn’t resemble the Brisbane River. It is even labeled as an Adobe Stock video and it just seems to be a generic cityscape with little to no resemblance to Brisbane.
