100% agree. Skyline backdrops can look good if done right… but they rarely are. I always loved ITV News at Ten’s London backdrop:
(Absolute travesty that they ditched that look. It should have run for years.)

Washington Week has moved into the new set, plus a minor change to the lower thirds - “If you noticed the table, I built it myself”.
Newshour’s weekend and West editions have adopted to the new look last week.
But what is the show it screens in?
From what I can tell, that segment airs as part of the American Spanish-language tabloid newsmagazine program Primer Impacto (First Impact) which airs on Univision at 5pm weeknights.
The horoscopes have had an interesting history with the program which airs a mix of headlines, weather, sport, movies etc, they were dropped in 2010; returned in 2021 then dropped once more in 2023, but appear to have returned again?
So, like Sunrise in the afternoon.
Onto local TV…
GrayOne was introduced to the Quad Cities station two months later.
Another Gray station on the retro train is WBRC, the Fox affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama. Updated to GrayOne graphics on their online bulletins first, the opener was a mix of the Gray template, Fox’s 2020 O&O package for the bulletin branding, plus reusing the 6 numeral from the 90s.
The bug, though, is still dual-branded with both ‘Fox 6 News’ and the call letters.
Similar to KWQC, they relaunched the 1996 campaign jingle in leading up to their 75th birthday:
2 years after moving their studios downtown, KWTV Oklahoma City updated their set, and debuted new graphics alongside their sister station in Tulsa. The set was done by Devlin Design Group.

After (from KWTV Facebook):

Scripps’ national news channel Scripps News (formerly Newsy) is closing down its FTA presence and restructure its schedule and lay off most of its staff. The network is citing a lack of revenue (in spite of increasing ratings) and major woes within the company. The network will continue as a FAST-exclusive service from November 15, with a smaller amount of live content remaining, produced from the Washington bureau.
According to Dylan Byers, one of the insiders who form the suscription-only platform Puck News, Amazon is entering the news business. The company is producing a special US election night programme, and Byers has been told Brian Williams will anchor the special (X source here).
WPVI’s new set launched last Monday, a set which retains the bones of the previous set (dated back from 2017) and enhances it with more videowalls and a flash cam at the “AccuWeather Weather Center” for breaking weather and traffic coverage.
Sad to see Scripps News close, was always a good channel even when it was newsy. Had a good group of presenters.
KRON, Nexstar’s San Francisco station, launched a fresh, circle look on their newscasts ahead of their 75th birthday. The graphics was designed by freelancer Jon Berry, while Stephen Arnold Music re-orchestrated the station’s Instant Classics jingle (created by Michael Boyd in 1995 and used until 2020) as their ‘sonic brand’.
In their own words:
