BBC boosts transmissions to Iran. The BBC Persian service has added two more mediumwave (AM) frequencies for its radio broadcasts to Iran. The two new ones are 720 (from Cyprus) and 1296 (from Tajikistan). These are alongside the existing 702 (from Oman) and 1395 (from Armenia).

The new, daily “lifeline” radio programme is specifically designed to provide essential news during, as BBC describes it, a period of heightened, continued instability.
The move aims to combat, as the BBC reports, significant, ongoing efforts to disrupt digital and satellite communications in Iran.

In another major development, US President Donald Trump accused some Western allies of ingratitude after several countries rebuffed his demand to send warships to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz as Iran continues to target oil facilities in the Gulf.
A number of US partners, including Germany, Spain and Italy, have said they had no immediate plans to send ships to help reopen the strait, which Iran has effectively shut with drones and naval mines. “We lack the mandate from the United Nations, the European Union or NATO required under the Basic Law,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said in Berlin, adding that Washington and Israel had not consulted Germany before launching the war.
Earlier in the day, he vented his frustration at some long-standing allies of the US failing to enthusiastically back his plans to open up the Strait of Hormuz. “Some are countries that we’ve helped for many, many years. We’ve protected them from horrible outside sources, and they weren’t that enthusiastic. And the level of enthusiasm matters to me,” he said at a White House event in Washington.
Seriously, what does he expect? He did not consult any of these nations before he began a war on Iran with Isreal. Then he expects them to come running to help him get out of the mess he created.
He then goes on to rebuke and insult the leaders of the UK and France (again) but wonders why they’re not rushing to support him.
