TVSN

Did they really not get the you.tv domain?

Although that does sound very expensive.

You’d think they could put on a big sale for this massive occasion?

Did a rescan before bed last night in Tassie and we only had the usual 7 channels but this morning we have two new ones added to the mix with TVSN and you.tv added.

New channel lineup in Tasmania:

6 - 7HD Launceston
60 - 7HD Launceston
61 - 7 Launceston
62 - 7TWO
63 - 7mate
64 - SBN
65 - TVSN
66 - you.tv
67 - gecko
68 - RACING.COM

Yes - three shopping channels in a row there.

WIN has the same placeholder screen as others.

4 shopping channels when you include SBN and yet no 7Bravo or 7flix. What a waste of bandwidth!

What’s You TV never heard of that channel.

Totally agree broadcasters need to use their bandwidth more wisely.

Should this topic be under the Channel 7 thread now:

I haven’t checked the guides fully but I am guessing now the Home Shopping is exactly the same now in metro and regional.

In the past, regional viewers got a few extra slots midnight to dawn and then on weekends in the mornings on the multis.

Is everything 100% the same now?

I noticed The Morning Show hosts crossed to a promo with two hosts from TVSN towards the end of the show.

I wish we had data on whether these channels actually have an audience and buyers.

I’ve always found it ridiculous how many home shopping channels we have. Must be sustaining audience?

Well, the advertisers must make sales if they keep advertising with them.

I worked for a company that handled calls for these channels and infomercials. The number of calls was surprisingly high.

I thought they did release ratings data for these channels?

They aren’t included in any ratings.

TVSN target rich pensioners, curious channel surfers and strange cat ladies in Sydney. Seem to be based on the Northern Beaches and talk about that a lot. They also made lots of money during covid when everyone was stuck at home. They started on foxtel 29 years ago and some of the original presenters are still there, ageing with their target audience. It’s a privately held company and they must be raking it in. Lots of so called platinum for life shoppers who have go spend $20k in two years. Some of the presenters say they are themselves. They charge lots for goods and charge postage on every item. They do have reputable brands but I just watch the preso and then buy the same item somewhere else online for less. I stumbled on it while at uni and writing assignments at 3am. Nothing else on tv back then.

Many years ago I had a weekend in Canberra and a late night channel surf took me to Prime showing TVSN overnight… and the TVSN People’s Choice Awards. Awards just for presenters and shows of TVSN! Just like the Logies but presented from a room about the size of a broom cupboard.

I (think) I mentioned it on the old old Mediaspy forum. But I used to watch TVSN on Foxtel in the early 2000’s - for me it was the Big Brother of its time (wasn’t watching it for the items on sale lol).

The presenters would talk about their personal lives in very peculiar ways (in many cases unrelated to what they were selling at the time). I guess it was their way of engaging with the viewers. It sure suckered me in, once again not to buy anything but just to see what odd things they’d say next.

Yep, that’s when I watched. Now the presenters that are left from that era have menopause and talk about that and neck cream.
