TV Week

Compare that to what the TV Week did back in the 80s.

That’s a good point but I agree with @JBar too that in a lot of retail settings in supermarkets and newsagents the only visible part of the magazine cover is the top part and that’s where you need to grab people’s attention to get them to buy. Which is why TV Week covering the top part of the cover with a Harvey Norman banner ad a few months ago seemed also particularly poorly judged.

Yes, that is another thing, on newsagent or supermarket shelves, often only the top of the cover is visible so indeed it is prime space for attracting customers.

I notice these things because I buy it from a petrol station where space is limited for magazines. They only carry about 12-16 magazines on that rack. TV Week usually sits behind Who Weekly or one of the other weeklies. So that was a lot of blank space visible on the rack this week.

Barry said in the interview the “next big move” was to run as an independent candidate for the Senate. He did this because he believed Australia was heading to the wrong direction, with people not looking out for each other as they used to.

The Block “CHEATING SCANDAL” on the cover with four ugly screen captured photos of contestants from the show.

Beats a HAA cover any day!

Really?

While Home & Away gets too much time on the covers of TV Week, I’d hardly say The Block’s (probably completely manufactured) Cheating Scandal is a great story either.

Execpt I think this time the cheating Scandal is genuine.

Something “genuine” on a reality show?

I know, its a joke :joy: but seriously, contestants taking a photo of a production schedule and distributing it is a massive cheating move.

With the magazine out 52 times a year, there will be the odd reality cheating scandal to make the cover. This time, it goes to The Block.

I’m sure that a Married at First Sight scandal has made the cover once or twice before. I know MKR has made the cover too over the years, but can’t remember if a “scandal” was mentioned on the cover or not.

But luckily enough, reality scandals don’t make the cover all that often.

The “scandal” headline is often used. Don’t have a problem with that. The magazine is just playing the same games as the reality shows are.

What I don’t like is them using screen captures from the show on a cover. It looks cheap and nasty. There are always many good publicity shots of the contestants, so why not use them for the cover?

I’m not usually a fan of them using screen captures on the cover either. They are usually blurry, and just lazy from the mag too. Although there is there odd screen-captured ones i do like (like the Wentworth cover last week, even though some didnt like it, which is fair enough). But on a whole, i dont like them. They should be putting up good publicity shots on the cover. I’m sure every show has these shots available.

I see the TV Week logo is in the top middle again.

Not HAA! YAY

She’s a former Home and Away actress. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: And of course they asked her about her time on Home and Away in the article.
