TV show ideas

I do have another idea for a program that could either be a drama or a comedy. This program would be loosely based on programs such as Family Affair from the 1960s (yes I hear you shouting out relic), where an Uncle (or Aunt) is landed with the role of caregiver to 3 orphaned children. The drama/comedy would be moulded around getting used to taking care of the children whilst juggling other commitments.

Yes this idea has been done in various forms before other than the program mentioned (eg the movie Raising Helen), but I think it could be a program that could work.

Another possible programming idea assuming no one has tried it before is a fly-on-the-wall series called A Day In The Life Of A Teenager - a reality series that follows a student around for the whole day. I would consider 1 episode a week to be enough running over say 6 weeks. First series could focus on a female subject. If successful series 2 could focus on a male. Produce 2 series a year.

Obviously editing out more intimate moments.

Instead of being it based on something that’s already been done maybe try something new? I think when networks try and create new shows they just end up copying each other .

It is kinda hard now because anyone can literally do their own 5 minute tv show on you tube and stuff .

I don’t even think there is a large enough audience for these shows that you are suggesting.

I had Two random thoughts and memories today… candid camera and funniest home videos!!! Do you think there could be life in either of those!!! Funniest home videos could have a whole new lease on life with the amount of video content we all have on our phones these days.

I know they are old school but both were big hits in their day

Seven has done that with Cats / Dogs / Donkeys / Mules / Koch Make You Laugh Out Loud.

Plus Nine are still doing the genre somewhat with 20 to One.

That stuff we all upload to social media and You Tube to share with the world?

Why would anyone in this day and age wait for a TV show to present funny videos when you can watch them on You Tube at your convenience?

No. When you have random thoughts like that, you can keep them to yourself. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sad but true. Same goes for music videos.

Mystery Diners Australia.

Because why the fuck not?

Does my idea “Sunset College” have legs?

Sounds likd the title of a porno. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What about an Australian produced TV Bloopers. I am sure there would be some gems from the filming of shows like Neighbours

I actually thought that about Gogglebox and Big Brother (back in the day), but they have worked in their time. i think any program idea with the right people involved could be a hit.

I think that one of the networks need to invest in a variety show of sorts (like Hey Hey and The Midday Show), have variety of content - interviews, live musicians, sketch comedy, movie reviews, perhaps even music videos (even if it was 1 a day to take the show out)

Specifically for 10: Drag News - news hosted by drag queens at 6pm.

If we’re going down that path - how about Naked News Australia?

I thought Ten could re-invent Big Brother under the title of Housemates.

Premise 8 people move into a house together for a 3 month period. Instead of evictions, the house mates nominate for housemate of the week - which the public then vote for who they think is housemate of the week over a 6 day period.
The winner of each week gets $10,000 put into their kitty. The final would be between the 3 top housemates - again voted by the public over 22 hour period. The prize for the housemate of the season would be $80,000, second place $30,000 and Third place $10,000. A total of $250,000 given away.

The show would involve 4 different components

Housemates LIVE - 6pm Daily on 10Peach - Duration 30 minutes

Housemates Daily - featuring the events of the day - 7:30pm Daily on Ten - Duration 1 hour

Housemates Games Night - 8:30pm Saturday on Ten - Hosted by Grant Denyer (or Chris Brown) and Julia Morris - 2 hours

Housemates Weekly - 8:30pm Sunday - 2 hours - week in review and a reveal of the nominees for Housemate of the Week

Why not. It can air at 9:30. 10 should deliver news differently.

Some newsreaders I’d prefer not to see naked

Obviously you wouldn’t get those newsreaders. I’m talking attractive young women and men (it’s 2019, let’s cater for everyone out there) with all the right bits and pieces.

I have a new idea for a new currents affairs show - The Wayne Kennett Show. Use a well known Australian comedian to present a current affairs based program - Glenn Robbins was one comedian that came to mind for this vehicle. The said comedian would be working under the name Wayne Kennett (say it fast I dare you)

It could either be a half hour or 1 hour program looking at the “issues” of the week.

And think about the marketing opportunities - “We’re all for Wayne Kennett” bumper stickers, stubby holders, drink coasters
