TV Commercials

Just been tuning into the Seven Regional QLD feeds during ad breaks, seems some of the local ads shown on the stations (excluding STQ-30 Mackay) are for Mackay businesses. I kid you not, I saw ads for Multi-Rack, Red Dog Riverfront and KeySolutions Group, all of which are located in Mackay, sometimes even during the early hours. These ads were seen in Cairns, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba for example.

It seems some Mackay businesses are now trying to dominate TV airwaves in every single Regional QLD market, not including the Gold Coast. Sure, there was the odd Townsville ad on Cairns, and the odd Bundaberg ad on the Sunshine Coast, but this latest move means Mackay is quickly becoming the main centre of regional TV advertising on Seven Queensland.

The Lamb ad for 2025 is here… and the 20th anniversary of the summer Lamb campaign.

Seems to have some parallels to last year’s ad (uniting polarised Australians)

Look who popped up during an Australian Open ad break on Nine tonight…

It’s a stupid ad a waste of air time. Actually say something about how you are going to fix the issues. I’m already sick of he’s ads and the election date hasn’t been announced yet. I wish he would go away permanently. :rage:

Very random and no idea why, but love this BWS ad :joy: Catchy! Aired during Nine’s Australian Open, on/off. Probably my favourite one, the pan flute LOL.

[Agency: BMF Media]

Followed closely by the Peter’s Drumstick ad, with an exaggerated amount of beach sand falling out of a toddler’s board shorts, while the dad suspends him in mid-air and the mother eats the ice cream, both exclaim “classic”. Loved it!

Quite underwhelming this year.

I kid you not, the F-Bomb made an appearance in this Adelaide ad, and guess what, it aired during Seven’s 4pm arvo news!

I thought the F-Bomb wasn’t generally allowed in TV commercials. Here’s something from Ad Standards on this: https://adstandards.com.au/issues/language/

Advertisers must take care to use language that is appropriate for their audience and avoid the use of strong or obscene language.

maybe it was “bucking”

That’s what I thought too. Bs and Fs can sound the same depending on the person’s voice, tone, speed, etc.

Novartis with its “Your Attention, Please” ad on breast health and encouraging cancer screening was the top rating commercial in the 21st Kellogg School Super Bowl Advertising Review.

Saw an obvious product placement in this week’s Suits LA.

Good spotting. It even looks like an ad

These need to look more organic, not shoved down your face so blatantly.

Saw this on 10 HD Melbourne yesterday whilst trying to find Federal Election ads in amongst my recordings. Solar N Sat, a local business in Bundaberg (QLD) that sells power products (batteries, generators, etc), are expanding interstate. They have opened up (or are currently in the process of doing so according to their website) in Melbourne.

Great to see the ‘Kiwi kids are weetbix kids’ TVC featuring real Kiwis.

When I was a kid the ‘Kiwi kids are weetbix kids’ ad would feature Australian kids. Like an Aboriginal Child wearing a koala t-shirt.

And the Kiwis kids still couldn’t tell the difference. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is strange. Not sure if this has been a common practice but at the moment NWS-9 Adelaide are running ads for Tankworld and their Silent Sale. Tankworld’s ads are seen on regional TV stations, but I couldn’t imagine a capital city like Adelaide running ads for Tankworld? Certainly haven’t seen a Tankworld ad on the Perth stations.

Perhaps Adelaide is now widely seen as a country area to advertisers? Or is TV advertising in Adelaide cheaper than in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane? I’m confused.

These days there is probably an increasing interest in water storage tanks in metropolitan or outer metro areas. Maybe they are just dipping their toes in Adelaide to see how it works out? Adelaide could possibly be a fairly cost-effective capital city option, too. Not as pricey as the east coast cities or Perth which are all larger populations than Adelaide.

How often are you watching Perth TV?
