Married At First Sight’s 2-hour Final Vows episode drew 1.8m viewers to easily top Tuesday night’s viewing. However, that was down on last week’s 1.9m audience.

On Australian Idol, the three grand finalists were selected via a live vote to average 916k after 882k watched the performance show on Monday

Meanwhile, Australian Survivor had 435k its highest Tuesday rating of the season while for ABC, Foreign Correspondent at 8pm was down slightly to 583k.

The third and final episode of The Matter Of Facts had 457k for a season high after episode one had 435k and episode two had 406k. Later on Seven, Doc was down 30k to 431k.

Nine ran a split schedule post MAFS with AFL Footy Show Gather Round Spectacular in AFL territory. The coding of Footy Classified with 207k will need to be adjusted. It compares to last year’s episode from the Barossa that had 197k in a 7.30pm timeslot.

The coding for The Hunting Wives will also need to be updated due to a late change seeing the show pre-empted in NRL territory with 9News Late screening first.

On a day with some big news stories Seven News was number one with just over 1.5m ahead of Nine News with 1.44m.

Ealrier, Tipping Point surged to a season high of 846k to be 150k ahead of The Chase’s cricket special that had the show’s highest result since January of 695k. The improvements were no doubt helped by the end of Daylight Savings.

A Current Affair got another big audience at 7pm with 1.25m to be ahead of ABC News on 1.28m and Home and Away that was also over one million.

Sunrise had a big win at breakfast with 447k as Today dropped to 308k and News Breakfast improved to 288k.

Audience significantly elevated off the back of that breaking news story.

I don’t think today’s US ceasefire is going to pull off that same effect.

Big audience for Tipping Point.

It’s a matter of time before it reaches the 900k mark.

MAFS HOLDS NO.1 SPOT NATIONALLY AS 9NEWS LEADS 5-CITY METRO BULLETINS

Married at First Sight was Australia’s No. 1 program of the night with Total People and all key demos. It was also the No.1 program with Total People and all key demos across all five metro capitals. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 2.927 million and a Total TV Audience of 1.804 million . On 9Now, it recorded a BVOD audience of 580,000 – up 27.5% year-on-year.

9News was the No.1 news bulletin with Total People across the 5 City Metro and in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The combined national bulletins registered a National Total TV Reach of 2.284 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.441 million . On 9Now, it recorded a BVOD Audience of 241,000 – up 104.2% year-on-year.

A Current Affair won the 7.00pm timeslot across Australia with Total People and in Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide. It claimed a National Total TV Reach of 2.012 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.251 million (up 21.3% year-on-year). It recorded a BVOD audience of 226,000 – up a massive 151.1% year-on-year.

Tipping Point Australia was the No. 1 afternoon game show with Total People and all key demos across Australia. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 1.593 million and a Total TV National Audience of 846,000 . On 9Now, it recorded a BVOD Audience of 127,000 – up 89.6% on the same night last year.

Today won the breakfast timeslot with Total People in Sydney and Brisbane. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 782,000 and a Total TV National Audience of 308,000 . It also recorded a BVOD audience of 61,000 – up 41.9% year-on-year.

The 9Network was the No.1 network on Tuesday across the 5 City Metro with Total People and all key demos.

9Now was the No.1 CFTA BVOD Platform on Tuesday across Australia with Total People and all key demos.

Also keep in mind some Chase-usual viewers switching over because they’ve seen the cricket special before.

The difference was 151,000 - slightly higher than 2026 average, I believe.

  • #2 in its timeslot in 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s.

It’s also a repeat given the Chase cricket special aired at 7:30pm last month

The end of daylight savings saw an expect uptick at 5pm and 6pm also helped by holidays in some markets.

Nine News had some good results including one its best Perth results of the year.

Tipping Point had a 2026 high and The Chase had its best result since the Australian Open saw it as the only 5pm game show.

Melbourne saw Today in 3rd place while the extra local news didn’t make any impact in Perth yet.

9 Afternoon news won all markets except Adelaide.

Is that Deals best audience since the 6:30pm move?

A big switch on at 7pm across the board last night (well maybe growth for most programs from 6pm to 7:30pm, with News + being the exception)

I fail to see why Australian Idol gets such a big audience. It is full of nonentities who remain nonentities after the show. Just a pale imitation of the original which produced many long lasting performers. MAFS audience numbers also amaze me but even with all its faults and flaws at least they produce something original.

One of the best News Breakfast results in a while

I think people are interested in seeing good singers being discovered. It’s just that they’re not willing to buy their music after the show ends.

I would rather watch Idol than MAFS. I think that’s probably another reason for the solid ratings. I do wonder how it would go if it didn’t air against MAFS. But for 7, with them having The Voice in Q4, it doesn’t make sense to air them closer together.

Good singers?

Well, that’s what we’re judging. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You can’t deny there have been some exceptional performers discovered on Australian Idol. Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Rob Mills, Rikki-Lee Coulter have had great careers as singers.

There are also many others who also continue to sing professionally who should be considered as successful like Casey Donovan, Anthony Callea, Matt Corby, Shannon Noll, Stan Walker etc
