True Story with Hamish & Andy

Review:

I think it will just all be edited together, studio and story, after the fact. Not that I have seen it, but I’d liken it to a 60 Minutes interview where they cut between the interview and reenactments or other shots. I don’t believe there is a studio audience for the studio shots (could be wrong).

"Yes they wrote and filmed them across 4 months after meeting the person in studio."

Well there you go. He seems to know a lot about the filming process of the show for a reviewer.

Because he’s not just “a reviewer”.

This article has an understanding of how it was produced. I’m actually looking forward to it. Its a simple, but interesting idea IMO

Interesting read.

All the casting of interview subjects had to be done without any of their involvement so that hearing the story unfold would capture authenticity while the cameras were rolling.

No surpise there. This is the same duo that for their radio show meet with producers seperately so that the other finds out about storys/ideas/segments on air with the rest of the audience to keep reactions genuine.

Not a fan. Very Very slow and drawn out. I didn’t read into it but I presumed there would be multiple storylines across the episode. Apparently it’s only the one story.

Should rate well first episode though seemed to be a lot of interest.

I liked it. Agree that I thought it would be multiple stories per episode but I thought it was well done still though

Would be good when it’s on a streaming service, but the amount of ad breaks ruins the flow for me for now.

I actually really enjoyed it. I didn’t think I would like it.

I was looking forward to this and had high expectations, but ended up very disappointed. I can imagine people sitting at party with a few drinks laughing at the story but I struggled to find anything funny at all. I failed to even see why we needed H and A to be there. Luckily HYBPA? was on and the laughs started after just a few seconds; so less forced and natural. It will get good ratings for tonight but based on the significant negative reaction of social media it will probably see a big drop for week two.

The show’s biggest strength was the reenactments. It was well shot and explained the story really well.

More of that and less cutting back to the interviewee and H&A would be a welcome improvement.

It was better than I thought it would be. Mercifully, it wasn’t overdone with Hamish and Andy.
However, I began to tire of the story towards the end.
It may be better served in future by putting 2 stories in each show, one which takes up 20 minutes and a shorter one to finish off. This would make it snappier.

A Brisbane identity ‘Luttsy’ is claiming that he discussed an idea for a television program called Cracking Yarns with Andy Lee in 2014, and that True Story is a direct copy of that idea. ‘Luttsy’ and Ashley Bradnam claim that they made a partial pilot of Cracking Yarns, for Nine according to the news.com.au story. Lee says that he had the idea 12 months before the discussion with ‘Luttsy’.
