For everyone else, “this countdown” = Triple M’s Perth-only G.O.A.T. Real Time Countdown.

Looks more like a data harvesting exercise

Rosie Walton said on air this morning that Mick Molloy had to leave the Melbourne breakfast early as he was unwell.

Hope he’s not too unwell. But…

The show was actually refreshing without him for a few segments. They maintained good banter but were able to talk about some more serious issues without Mick interrupting to get his token joke in every time.

Always found it odd to build the show around someone who naturally plays the sidekick role.

True. But the reason is Mick Molloy after all these years has now graduated to being the biggest star on the billboard. He has been at Triple M on and off for decades. Even if you have never listened to Triple M or aren’t from Melbourne you probably know who he is.

Whereas while Titus, Nick and Rosie can hold their own without him, they aren’t big names that can draw an audience like Mick can.

dave gleeson plays the odd shit song adele just played wtf not even a rock track fuck it of to a hit station

Heard that too.

Part of the “Classic 9 At 9”… tonight’s theme was “Artists that have had a disagreement with Donald Trump”.

And Gleeson played that same Adele “Rolling In The Deep” song a few weeks ago as well.

Okay, settle down. You should know by now that Triple M isn’t a rock station (or network) anymore.

I think if you’re looking for a rock station it’s time to give up on Triple M. To be honest it was never really that good of a rock station anyway, not since the mid- to late-90s anyway. Triple M isn’t even really a music station these days, let alone a rock station.

There are plenty of other alternatives, just stream Rebel FM or Power 100.

Triple M became more of a soft rock station

I wouldn’t really classify it as soft rock - that’s stuff like Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Hall & Oats, Phil Collins. They’re not even original enough to refine the format to that extent. It’s really just general Greatest Hits.

Correct. I’d place them in the league of a male-skewed (although broader than just male-only) variety station.
