Triple M Network

Another defection of sorts. Melbourne breakfast EP Tegan Higginbotham has left.

Loren Barry’s back on Triple M this morning, on Sydney breakfast with that whole crew. Missed if it’s the whole show or just a segment.

She’s doing The Hot Hits on the Hit network this year. Seems odd.

Listening back to the podcast, Beau says shes “joined our team”. Sounded permanent from his intro but interested to see if she has in fact defected back.

There was obviously a reason why she quit The Marty Sheargold Show last year. It certainly seemed like The Hot Hits with Nic and Loren on the Hit Network was permanent.

I guess Tarsh Belling quitting breakfast was unexpected and they needed to find a replacement quickly. They wouldn’t muck around with changes to a Hit show again, if this wasn’t permanent now. Seems whatever made her quit Triple M in the first place is not a problem now.

She’s much more suited to the HIT network than Triple M.

Nic and Loren address this is the start of Wednesday’s podcast. They said that for a short time (maybe just a few days) Loren would be doing both shows. Definitely not leaving The Hot Hits. I assume she’s just filling in an until Tarsh’s replacement starts.

Clearly they want a female voice on the show

They’ve got Cat Lynch sitting right there panelling the show…

With the Friday Huddle’s new timeslot of 4pm-7pm, the program will play four songs each week with each host (Howie, Browny, Damo and the Chief) to make one selection.

Jason Dunstall (broadcasting remotely from Sydney) was up first today with his choice being Power and the Passion by Midnight Oil.

I don’t rate it to be honest. It’s basically a footy version of The Rush Hour.

Just have JB and Bill do The Rush Hour until 6.

It’s just a more efficient way of doing things ultimately.

JB has Friday night footy on Seven so it would be inconvenient to be attending to Rush Hour commitments beforehand.

Dunstall too now has Friday night committments on Fox so the new timeslot allows him to continue on MMM. The old 6pm start time would’ve made it too rushed for him to be on the radio.

And having Jack Heverin do play-by-play commentary is probably cheaper for the station than having Howie do it.

By the sounds of it both JB and Chief will be wherever the game is.

In the past JB just sat in the MMM commentary box doing The Rush Hour.
I am suprised Howie isn’t in Sydney given he’s normally the Friday caller for the MMMs.

Brian Taylor and Jack Heverin are the Friday callers on Triple M going forward. Howie is just doing the Huddle.

I assume Howie is moving to different slot on the MMMs?

I doubt that, given he is doing Thursdays and probably also Saturdays on Foxtel. So it sounds like Howie will only be doing the Huddle and no match calling on Triple M going forward.

I do like a lot of the Triple M footy output, but the newly-extended Friday Huddle is, to put it mildly, a fucking punish.

If you can’t have a live Rush Hour for whatever reason, run best-ofs - it has to be better than this shite

It’s too long for mine. Friday Huddle/Saturday Rub is what 2 hours at absolute best?

That’s plenty of time to have banter and talk footy. To me there’s not enough of it to cover 3 hours.

Do we dare say that Erin Molan could be Tarsh’s replacement lol

I think they should have Cat Lynch step up and have a more prominent voice on the show, even if its for the short term. Shes been a breakfast host in Adelaide and been on Triple M for a few years, so knows the demographic she needs to cater to
