… So SCA aren’t making him take leave? …

I don’t think so.

Heat will die down, he comes back groveling and everyone moves on.

10 News First Exclusive talking with the Tillies Captain over the comments made from Marty Sheargold

Looks like Marty isn’t off the hook, if nationwide bulletins - albeit it’s 10 - are talking on this.

It’s one of the news stories of the day, why wouldn’t it be on the news.

True, just thought that something that only aired within QLD & NSW wouldn’t make exclusives with sporting captains, as a statement has already been made from FA and I’m presuming the interview will beshown nationwide :+1:

It was also on the podcast.

Ah. That makes more sense.
Wonder if the same backlash would have occurred if it had stuck to the podcast.

Marty and Triple M have parted ways.

That doesn’t surprise me.

Marty would have gone “fine by me see ya”

Yes. This doesn’t surprise me either. The comments weren’t funny. Triple M had to act and did the right thing.

Remember kids, this is why you don’t try to syndicate shows.
Huge loss for SCA. Wonder what fills this void now.

Bet it was sponsor pressure

Maybe it’s a lesson on picking the right talent for the job, whether it’s a local show or a national one.

True. Bet SCA wish they hadn’t syndicated now, they’re gonna need to find someone to work a drive show for two states now.

The issue with this incident for me was that it wasn’t just one ‘joke’ - people say off colour things all the time. There seemed to be a real venom and nastiness to what he said that will be very hard for him to come back from.

Well done triple M - right decision was made. Only shame is it happened just days after some really good presenters were made redundant.

Any chance they could get Luke Bona back for the drive shift?

Certainly don’t think they were good comments and overstepped the mark, but the departure screams of opportunism by a cost cutting SCA, using it as an excuse to trigger a firing without a big payout of the contract.

A Melbourne breakfast salary and team was never going to make sense when it was just doing a podcast and an hour or so of national drive.

Maybe now they can make a drive show for Qld and NSW from Sydney. Marty never really seemed interested and wanted to see out his contract.
