Triple M Network

Best of Marty & JB and Billy today. Seems staff have been given a long weekend.

They may as well just keep the Awesome 80s going for a couple more hours.

They did going off the rather brief Marty Sheargold producers podcast this week.

Is Triple M Brisbane really a greatest hits stations? Or is it rock still?

Next year will probably be a whole week off with ANZAC Day falling on the Friday after Easter

Greatest Hits, I think.

The way things are at the moment on Nova, 2DAY FM and KIIS are going, you could also consider these stations to also be Greatest Hits too given how frequently they play throwbacks, in addition to the overplayed hits that are at best 6-12 months old, and their obsession with Taylor Swift which I think is just getting over the top now.

No I don’t think so. It’s just a reflection of where popular music is at the moment. Good stuff is few and far between. I agree the Taylor Swift thing is way over the top though, and completely baffling.

Taylor Swift overkill probably also a reflection of a real lack of quality pop music these days. Even though hers isn’t that great, still probably more listenable that 90% of other new music.

It’s Triple M. They’ve done this for decades.

Just take a look at the playlist 5MMM was playing under their “Totally Different” format years ago. You’ll fall off your chair for sure.

It was a Nova clone in Adelaide.

Triple M 90s has been playing dance and hip-hop, as well as rock and indie, since it launched 4 years ago, so no surprises there.

Triple M 2000s also plays Eminem and some dance , hip-hop, indie and rock.

They are both good stations. I hope ARN keep them post merger.

When did Tradie Radio go? Im assuming MMM 90s took that spot again?

It went late last year. Replaced by Triple M 90s with a similar playlist.

So when do we see a 2010s channel?

I don’t think there’s enough known rock skewed music for one.

Nova had one but blew it up 2 years ago for Smooth Vintage.

Massive problem at midnight across the MMM network.

Luke Bona is off tonight, calling in Jason Morrison as he has leave to use up before the end of the FY as SCA are too tight to accumulate leave (Jason would genuinely relish the opportunity).

Unlike Luke, Jason doesn’t panel the show (yet has panelled many a news bulletin and radio shift in the past). Usual producer, Thomas (who
is far better than Jess could ever dream she is, even at Seven now) is panelling with Chris producing/phones.

When the clock struck midnight, the program broadcast as usual on 2MMM, carrier only on 3MMM, endless guitar loop on 4MMM (network feed) with same on independent regionals B Rock Bathurst and Mix Sunshine Coast.

Callers also reported the Listnr app wasn’t working either, Jason and Tom on air both had amusing quips for the lemon of an app, their primary interest rightly was to ensure their program was on air across the 71 or 73 stations.

When they did come back across the network program, there was a loop for a few minutes of a few sentences of Jason. All fixed by twenty past.

Is the SCA NOC working well? Would a tech on staff, on shift at the studio be a better choice?

Consider the near rock solid reliability of the 2UE network output in its halcyon days prior to the SCB Mexican slash & burners arriving? Multiple news bulletins hourly, rural news, non talk programming, John Laws, Stan Zemanek, New Day Australia & many other products went out every time without concern. On Triple M, this meltdown happens often/quarterly at least for Luke’s show.

Jason also had a swipe at Pat Panetta, he sounded shocked that he usually filled in for Luke previously.
