Triple M Network

There may be clauses that either party can action to terminate the contract, it is most likely the validity or otherwise of these that are being disputed. While the ratings weren’t great, they weren’t catastrophic either. From reports, the issue between the station and presenter was an off-air one. Triple M would be expecting to have to make some sought of payout, often in these situations the parties reach a settlement out of court rather than having their dirty laundry aired in court.

This is ridiculous. Triple M should’ve simply left him at breakfast. It’s not like they’ve got much of a replacement anyway.

Either he was pushed, or he didn’t like the addition of MG.

I think that’s probably got something to do with it. Ego! He probably didn’t like that they were bringing MG back and his dainty little ego got bruised. He probably threatened them with “it’s him or me” and they said “him”.

What’s in the drive spot for the Queensland regionals? On the schedule they don’t have anything there. As far as I’m aware the Rush Hour is exclusive to SEQ

The Triple M Cairns & Bundy websites have The Rush Hour Queenslander on their websites from 4-6pm. It’s not listed on the Townsville website though.

Well done to Scott. I wonder what his next move would be? Now that Jamie Angel is in Brisbane I think you’ll see him moved into the CD role for MMM?

I would say that 4MMM is the most successful in their network?

According to the recent radio ratings (S8/2021):

2MMM: 4.9%
3MMM: 4.8%
4MMM: 9.1%
5MMM: 9.9%
6MMM: 5.3%

So yes, 4MMM would be up there with 5MMM as being the most successful in their network, at least among metro markets.

I think it’s flawed to compare ratings like that, there is more competition in Sydney and Melbourne.

Fair point.

I think a better way to put this is by ranking rather than audience share. With that in mind:

Sydney: 8th (#6 FM)
Melbourne: 8th (#6 FM)
Brisbane: 4th (#3 FM) (behind AM music station 4KQ)
Adelaide: =3rd (with AM music station Cruise) (#2 FM)
Perth: 8th (#5 FM) (behind AM music station 6iX)

You’re spot on with that prediction! :+1:

I knew I should have become a clairvoyant. It would only make logical sense to get Jamie Angel in they role. He’s a smart and brilliant programmer. Let’s hope we get to hear him pull some shifts too!

As if SCA would let him rot away in brekkie when he ran 2MMM back when they were half decent in Sydney.

It took him long enough after the 2Day breakfast mess, but it’s great to have Jamie back running the M’s.

Dead Set Legends on a Saturday morning has returned in Adelaide with a fresh lineup, but has yet to return in other cities. On hiatus until football seasons commence or boned?

I haven’t heard anything yet but I wouldn’t even know what they’d do in Sydney

They’ll probably wait until closer to footy season in both Sydney and Melbourne. In Melbourne in 2021 they ran up until Melbourne Cup week pretty much and then finished for the year once the spring racing carnival was done and dusted.

No point starting early when there’s little sport on at the moment and shows like The Rush Hour and the odd bit on The Marty Sheargold Show are providing enough sporting content already for things like the Winter Olympics, Women’s Ashes, etc.

Time to get those name pronunciation lessons going again!

Or else follow the method of the legendary English commentator Henry Blofeld and just shorten the names e.g. Tillakaratne was “Tillers”. And so on …

I wonder if Melbourne are waiting for Emma Freedman’s Olympic commitments with Seven to finish first

Sydney’s DSL Facebook page was updated on January 31 for the first time in 7 years
