Triple M Network

When asked about the content direction of the new show, Geyer had a focus on being nice and making people smile.

“> We just want to be a nice show. We don’t want to create any type of fanfare about being critical of stuff, we always want to make people smile.

“We’re getting back to being relatable and we’re getting back to being something that if our kids were in the car we wouldn’t be ashamed to say it.”

You don’t increase share by simply being nice. This is Triple M, not Mix of the 90’s or sickly Smooth now.

Being nice implies that they are lacking the talent or confidence to make waves and rock the boat now and then. Nice equals safe.

Dave Gleeson is hosting the new nights show 7-10pm
Looks like it’ll be on metros as well as Newcastle, Gold Coast and Hobart

Will the show have an “anchor”?

I think it will be a pre-recorded show. Similar to other music talents on other networks. Didn’t Dave Gleeson host a lunch hour on Triple M a few years back? I think it could actually do well for Triple M at nights.

Yes, he hosted Rock of Ages, anchored by Mel Andersen, based out of Triple M Adelaide.

That solves the phone number overlap problem with Brisbane/Gold Coast.

Triple M Bendigo have shared the media release on Instagram, so that possibly means that it’s going to be on all the regionals as well. (They sometimes get left off the pressers).

Regionals have only just started “The Greatest” with Dave Ferrier. Seems the are going back to music based night shows which is good. There were rumours Tom and Olley were coming back. Glad they are going music based

His lunchtime shows were quite good. He’ll be well suited to nights.

Gleeso is probably a better fit for the current format than Tom & Olly

MG is sounding great being back on Triple M Sydney. I was listening online for a good part of this morning. Sounded like he was doing the show from home?

I’d have to admit Pagey is what holds that show, and the past 3 shows together. He’s a very slick anchor.

To quote myself. Do you think Triple M is set on this show. I have a feeling there is morning changes to come this year to build another great show like the Grill Team.

No I don’t think they are set on it, Moonman pulled out very late in the piece but I think the show has great chemistry, but lacks the star power almost needed in Sydney.
Got to remember though that the likes of Nova, KIIS and WSFM have had the same breakfast shows for a while (Kyle and Jackie O dragged most of their listeners from 2DAY).

i don’t think you need star power. you need a good team of people who want to make radio, the backing if management and most important - time.

They have had some great people work at Triple M over the past few years. Unfortunately the morale at SCA hasn’t been great for a while and they haven’t had the right people in programming roles (mostly on the Hit side).

I can’t but wonder how a clever show like Andrew Denton would go in 2022? Or how would Gibson & Duckworth do if given a few solids years run on breakfast.

Not a good look. https://radioinfo.com.au/news/the-moonman-launches-legal-action-against-sca-for-lost-wages/

According to his lawyers, “At no time during the term of the contract did Mooney commit any act that would entitle SCA to terminate and/or that could be relied upon by SCA as at the date of the purported termination to terminate”.

Well, he’s got the headline name on the show and he doesn’t rate, so I’m pretty certain that’s a reason for SCA to terminate his contract. He’s a narcissistic muppet!

Ýes, Triple M could “sack” him if they didn’t want him anymore because ratings weren’t what they wanted, but unless he’s done something that’s in breach of his contract, they would have to pay him out, or so I would have thought.

A bit like when a football player doesn’t perform as well as hoped, if their team sacks them, they would normally get paid out or they have to find anther team to take over the contract and in many cases subsidise it.
