Sounded like it was.

Yep agree they had a reasonable start so far.

I know I’ve said this before but I was gobsmacked a Lord Mayor of a capital city is moonlighting as a breakfast radio host. But then I did some research and the City of Perth is just basically the LGA for the downtown and a population of only about 20K, so it’s not the same as the Lord Mayor of Brisbane for example which is the biggest LGA in Australia by population (1.1M) and is responsible for about half of the metro population and a budget bigger than Tasmania. So obviously the scale of the jobs is quite different. I can tell you if the Brisbane Lord Mayor had a ā€œsecond jobā€ he’d likely be hounded out of office.

Yes. The LGA system is very different in Queensland to the rest of the country in that it has some of the biggest by population around Brisbane and also the smallest by population to the west of the state.

This is Basil’s third job. He also works for Channel 7 in Perth.

He’s clearly a workaholic. He’d be on the virtually non-stop 5am-7pm weekdays, plus some on weekends.

Plus he has a family (wife and 3 kids, I believe).

Had a listen to Baz this morning, he did make a blunder about correct station name

Found out about Bona and unfortunatley the delayed version is here to stay, why delay metro but live regional

In order for us to fit in our other great programs

Well obviously Danny Lakey!

We all know how that is essential listening!

But seriously, they probably think FM talk isn’t suited to evenings, you already have 6PR and ABC Perth in that space which compete in some ways.

I think you will find they’ll definitely have more than just Eagles and Dockers footy matches.

The old mates at work put Bona on for the talk back overnight, and I think 9pm, or even 10 outside of DST is far too early for it to start. I think it begins at midnight over east for a reason

Yeah but you think it could be live in Perth. Marty O is on 10-12am but what that is I don’t know.

Regional WA always broadcasts Luke live even if it’s a short version or long version

Yeah true. Probably just too lazy to schedule some songs and ads to air 2-5am. But to be honest as someone who doesn’t interact with talk back but just listen, I’d rather have a full delayed version over a live show that’s cut down by more than half

I dare say it’ll be homegrown or a triple M Aussie show.
I think a 10pm start would be ok for Perth. It would just frustrate me living 2-3 hours behind the rest of Australia.

Basil Xav and Jenna were on live at 5.30 this morning thought it just going to be starting at 6 anyone know if the earlier start is permanent?

Probably to not let 6PR get a jump on them.

I’d say it’s permanent.

Kennedy will also have time for her other job with Working Dog, I guess, in addition to being with her children.

Surely Mick will have another cohost? You can’t go national drive with just one bloke?
