Listened to bits of 3MMM today and seem to be taking feeds from other stations around the country. Al Shield was on this arvo, so taking the regional feed
Hugh Jackman and Gus Worland broadcast a breakfast radio special, Mind Your Mate with Gus & Hugh, across the Triple M network this morning.
Oh dear really? Can’t afford a station floater in the second biggest market in the country?
A regional announcer is probably considered a station floater these days for SCA!
Not sure where this announcer is based but a lot of the regional Hit and Triple Ms are hosted out of metro studios already these days.
I think Al Shield is on the Gold Coast?
Digby Gillings also goes national from Gold Coast too occasionally.
Yes he is, works across the majority of regionals and appears on 92.5 Triple M on the weekends.
The other networked regional announcer they have is Guy Mylecharane who is based out of Albury I believe.
Almost a month into 929 Triple M Perth, so far so good!!
Been a few whinges on the social media side of things but really the whinges should hold off as I believe more rock music would be added to the 929 playlist.
I’ve spoken to Cat Lynch and Ross Edwards on the station already!
One artist I’m suprised I haven’t heard as yet is Alice Cooper.
agreed, I’ll admit I’m not a regular radio listener, but from what I’ve listened to, it’s rare that anyone calling in is from an inner suburb.
Triple M knows it’s core audience, and it’s not anyone who’s a cheaper uber ride from a city centre.
Been hearing a few promos for Concert in the clouds, the voice over guy says, you can listen on FM, on the Triple M app & on digital radio. No mention of AM radio, do they forget in regional areas, that there are quite a few stations still on AM!
They obviously didn’t learn anything from their “Forget the footy on AM radio” promo errors!
On this day 30 years ago 6pm in Perth becomes 92.9 PmFm
Ron Beetson was Behind the mic
It was at 4pm dec 31 1990
Remember the day so well
And nearly 30 years later
92.9 Mmm is born
Triple M is off air and is running on its backup tape on 104.9 but Digital is blank along with Triple M 90s
Both back on-air now, the silence was broken by “Happy New Year” type sweeper IDs before music returned.
Mmm Perth finalising the playlist now
They played Toto’s Africa just before 9 this morning.
Safe to say now listening to them!
Alan from the Alan and Michelle show on hit southwest was hosting on air on 92.9 this morning has been a good listen.
Triple M 90’s are playing the Weepfest that Macy Gray’s I Try, it’s not even a Rock Song.

I remember discussing this at the time Triple M 90s launched - that decade stations always have that problem, either they stretch the genre boundaries or they are way too repetitive.
I vastly prefer them playing a song like that over playing a repeat of a song they’ve played 100 times in the last week - provided departures from the normal genres are rare.
That said, I don’t hate that song so maybe that skews my view a bit.
If they start playing Hanson’s “MMM Bop” or Los Del Rio’s “Macarena”, then you know that they have real issues!
But you could argue Hanson is a better fit than Macy Gray for MMM 90s in that they at least play guitars and use a drummer.
