Has anyone booked flights or holidays overseas for later this year? I am wanting to go to Europe in August but I don’t want to deal with testing requirements when I go. So I am just wondering if others have bothered yet.
I have booked (flexible) flights to the US for a birthday trip in June. I need something look forward to this year, and once you can wrap your head around the requirements they are not that bad (especially now that it’s just a RAT coming home into NSW). It’s probably harder going to Europe, especially if you are planning to move between countries and have to navigate local rules.
I should be doing a mixed work/holiday trip to the UK for 4-6 weeks in Oct/Nov which I’m more concerned about given that will coincide with the big ramp-up in cases we saw late last year going into winter.
Yeah I wouldn’t have an issue with going to just one country but I want to go to 5 different places (UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden and Turkey). And all will have different rules.
Sounds like the UK is about to have no rules. Whether it lasts or not is another matter entirely of course!!
From this Sunday (January 23), overseas travellers will no longer need to have a PCR test within three days of their departing flight, instead they will need proof of a negative rapid antigen test within 24 hours of departure.

@theGradyConnell @OnAir @LiamP @nztv @TV4 @TV3_NZ @Michael_Eccles I wanted to travel to the City of Sails but, due to Omicron, I am feeling devastated and broke down into tears.
Oh no Paddy! I’m very sorry to hear that. I hope your trip can be rescheduled after Omicron restrictions are relaxed a bit!
Thanks, @OnAir. I hope to one day have my dream television network - PTV Network New Zealand (Patrick Te Pou Enterprises Ltd) - headquartered in Auckland, and there will be branch offices and studios everywhere.
Are you overseas? The Auckland border is open to to move around the country
@Michael_Eccles No. In fact, I am based in Kawerau which is in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
i’m planning a trip to london this year but i think it will be a book and go - i’ll be booking and going within days as there is too much uncertinty
@OnAir I am here to give you an update. My trip to the City of Sails, through InterCity, have been postponed until 4 April which is on a Monday.
Fingers crossed you can travel then.
I am going to Tasmania and specifically Cradle Mountain. I’m just wondering where is the best town to stay that is travelling distance to Cradle Mountain? I want to do a few hikes in the park but don’t want to be too far away to drive to it each day.
It’s a remote area and there isn’t a lot else around - there are lots of accommodation options within the national park itself.
So when the Rex Jet operation falls apart do they repay back taxpayers?
What a waste of money.
I wonder how much cash they gave them. Is there a way the taxpayer can find out?
