The queen of the skies. What a beautiful aircraft.

Sad that they were retired early due to the pandemic. Feeling like there is a piece missing now.

Shame about the QF A380’s as we probably won’t see them in the skies for a few years. QF sent one from Melbourne to California a couple of days ago.

Also a shame that Melbourne missed out on a Boeing 747 farewell because of second wave of COVID-19 cases.

I’ve been told there is a large number of these at Brisbane airport.

i just got thinking and had a thought . could the rest of australia open its borders to regional and rural victoria ?? and instead of using tullamarine airport . could the airport in geelong be used??? i know at one stage the queensland cho said that those outside thehotspots of melbourne could still come to victoria and still use tullamarine and just not go outside of it . i know since then this has changed but could the wa , nt nsw , tas , qld and the act chos and premiers open the borders to country vic ??? or does the vic premier have to open up county vic even more?? theres only been 10 new cases in country vic brining it to 113

Hamilton airport about 1 h 30 min - 2 h from Auckland Airport.

Doesn’t make sense to me, Auckland wouldn’t have much in the way of other international flights as it is now anyway?

No. Sorry. Nobody wants anyone from Victoria right now.

…and with the way things are going at the moment, the rest of Australia isn’t likely to want anyone from NSW soon!

Easier to separate those who want to travel and return to NZ with the Pacific Bubble not requiring quarantine.

Problem is there are currently no direct flights between Hobart and Adelaide and Perth, let alone Darwin. People still have to transit through Melbourne which is currently hit by a second wave of COVID-19 cases.

If say COIVD-19 free Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, Christmas Island and the Cocos Islands introduced a travel bubble it also wouldn’t work.

And you wouldn’t get the passenger numbers needed to make it financially viable without government support.

QANTAS’s last 747 has arrived in the Mojave Desert for storage. Nine reported that the engines have been sold.

Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport is celebrating 50 years since the airport was opened. Tullamarine replaced Essendon Airport as the states main airport in 1970.

COVID-19 also denies Qantas a chance to celebrate its 100th birthday this year. I don’t think there will be any special events when the birthday comes in November.

According to an ABC News article, prices for flights from Sydney to Brisbane skyrocketed after QLD Premier Annatascia Palaszcuk announced that Sydneysiders will be banned from entering the state from 1am Saturday.

A one-way Qantas flight from Sydney to Brisbane was selling for more than $1,600, whilst Virgin & Jetstar have completely sold out on the same route!! :open_mouth:
