Today

I like the design elements here, but the split screen on the screen is old fashioned. Couldn’t they just get a big screen?

I think you’ll see the Other half tomorrow. No need for the soft set on Weekends.

Bloody hell. Why is everyone suddenly assuming they were getting a completely new set?

It was blatantly obvious for months that it was going to be the same one, just refined.

In saying that, Today on this set looks fantastic. Better than before I reckon.

Omg I love these angles. The use of the two screens is :ok_hand:
Gives the set heaps more depth than just one huge screen.

The desk logo looks really good too against the panelling on the floor.

Soft part of the set (on the couch) used this morning to talk entertainment.

I think this set looks really good for Today.

Brand new studio and they’re still using what looks like a 90s videowall with big black lines across the picture. Even if it was largely shipping the set over they should at least of updated that.

Have they given up on the mirage of the split screen with Bec and Dickie?

Yes it looks like it, now that Jayne has joined Richard on the set.

I’d expect Bec to fly to Sydney next weekend with VIC/NSW borders opening from tomorrow.

Towards the end of the show, Dickie and Jane were sitting on the Today Show couch. Looks nice. Expect to see more of it tomorrow with Karl and Ally.

Soft set looks really good, hopefully they spend more time there and away from the news set. The news set is good but needs something more to differentiate it from nine news Sydney, other than graphics

I am wondering if today will come from the main news set and today extra will come from the soft set albeit with a swap out from couch to desk. Looking forward to tomorrow to find out

Lounge area looks good!

Show looks quite clean on the news set. Backdrop for newsreader looks much better as-well.

Lounge area looks good.

They have obviously shortened the video wall on the right and put 4 panels behind it to replace the fake newsroom which is quite effective.

My only criticism and it’s quite minor anyway but would be nice to have a light panel on those 2 strips on each side of the desk. Would brighten it up a lot more.

As they find there feet, hoping they will incorporate some live shot elements into the set.

Very similar set up to News Breakfast. I’m sure there will be a few more elements launched tomorrow. But so far it looks good, also the show can now be presented from any other city if need be (with a similar networked look and appearance).

I thought there would be a street side set similar to Sunrise or was I just being too optimistic.

The building is on a back street and doesn’t look out onto much. Just a regular footpath out the front with dingy hotels, some takeaway food outlets in the immediate area and a small paved area across the road where workers sit and eat lunch.

I think they’ll find the new space very limiting. There won’t be an opportunity to do some of the things they did in the past by utilising the larger studio spaces and Willoughby grounds.

The problem is the location of the new building isn’t condusive to a street side set because of where it is.

I see now, thanks for clearing that up for me.
