Today (2015-Sept 2020)

You are also forgeting Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and Brisbane. They have centralized programming too, centralzied delayed news is crap , I would definetly like to see more local Today then the national Today. Especially from Perth.

These new OTS style graphics done on the backdrop like that look awful on tv, so pixelated and blurry.

The problem with local editions was that viewers would complain that they didn’t want to ‘miss out’ on Mel and Kochie or Karl and Lisa; that is one of the reasons why the Perth edition is only an insert. So, on that aspect, with all the team changes on Today, now is the time to rollout local editions. However, costings and finding local talent will always be a limitation. Not to mention the difficulty of filling 3.5 hours of local content.

At a time when people are questioning the viability and future of Free To Air television, the likelihood of creating more shows with limited and shrinking budgets is highly unlikely.

Good idea to have the whole team together for a change.

It is great to have the weekend team together because they have good chemistry. Also, it has been good to have Davina on Today. Her 7am news was extremely comprehensive this morning- featured 5-6 international stories and was 12 minutes in length.

One thing Weekend Today needs to work on, though, is the seating. Unless Jayne/Davina is the third host, like Tom on weekdays, she needs to be slotted off to the side of the desk; not next to David and Ally.

It’s reassuring to know that the Today producers still watch Lisa, on The Sunday Project.

A bit of fun no doubt. But surely this then begs the questions once again of… whats the point?

Today recorded its highest 5-city metro result in close to two weeks yesterday. Still 70k behind Sunrise, though.

Interesting not to back Rodger Corser.
