Today (2020-Feb 2025)

I’ve switched to Sunrise.

Today is a shit show at the moment.

Simple. Exposure.

People are very interested in Olympics. Expose them to the hosts of that usual time slot and hope they stick around afterwards.

I wouldn’t want to expose them if they’re being full (which they are). People may assume that’s them normally and will definitely not tune in outside of the Olympics.

They way they are this week, it would turn people off them.

Could it be the time difference with hosts and producers left at home?

What are you talking about?

It could be. It’s just lacking the fun stuff

Today in Paris started with the medal ceremony of the BMX; with interviews with Saya Sakakibara and family at the track. Then it was onto the swimming gold medals. Good in-studio interviews with the athletes later as well.

Cate Campbell is great talent, good at ad libbing and bounces off the hosts. Can see a great media future for her if she wants.

Is that Alicia Loxley interviewing trackside?

I’ve heard Cate speak as a keynote speaker, without notes, and she’s great.

Oh, I didn’t have that much to say except I think she is a good choice. She’s done her time on Weekend Today so the transition to the weekday show should be pretty smooth.

This morning stared around 6:30am

So they are doing weekend today too?

Today in Paris airs every day, yes.

It’s not the regular Weekend Today show.

Saturday’s Today In Paris was the highest rated for any day so far with a national average of 831,000 including 547,000 in the 50city market (Total TV).

Say what you like, but viewers are loving and craving this show, perfect timing too with live finals and our wake-up/brekky :ok_hand: Sunrise getting a rare absolute bath!

Will be fascinating to follow the ratings once the games are over to see how well Today can hold onto this momentum.

I’m assuming Karl and Sarah will be due some holiday time after the games which could hurt the show a bit.

For the love of god Nine, at least update the horrendous graphics.

I reckon they should use other talent they have in Paris, like Alex, Clint or Roz Kelly, to do Today in Paris next weekend, so Karl and Sarah are back in Sydney on Monday week straight after the Closing Ceremony.

It’s not the same thing though.

It really isn’t momentum because it isn’t the same show.

People are only tuning in for Olympics coverage.

It’s a completely different show when they’re back in Sydney. Numbers will drop considerably come Tuesday week.

You really can’t read anything into these figures.
