Today (2020-Feb 2025)

They’ll include them and Seven won’t.
This is a story old as time.

Nine News can include the Olympics weeks, no question. They coded it as ‘Today in Paris’ so it should be able to be identified separately, so that’s a start.

It will be interesting to see what they decide, because ACA last week from Paris rated lower. So, they’d want it excluded from their average.

Today started at the strange time of 6:50 am. The 200m swimming was run then Rugby 7s were shown from about 6:20 am. A full swimming replay was followed by interviews from the Rugby then the news.

How is the news being presented? Today News or 9 News presentation?

Well the caps have the 9News graphics so 9News.

This show is not Today.

Do they integrate it? Like do Karl and Sara throw to whoever’s reading?

They say something along the lines of “Here’s Jayne with the latest news”.

Just walked past a TV on Nine- they were showing Travel Guides. Are they coding this in ‘Today in Paris’ as well?

Today in Paris started at 6am this morning with a concentration on swimming. Then followed Rugby 7s and Gymnastics. There was a 2 minute excerpt from Travel Guides France at about 8.30am

Maybe they’re just commencing Today and changing the show line-up, to go with the current feel or vibe, what’s happened, what people are talking about, including any upsets or controversy, no offence to Eddie McGuire and his overnight crew. Maybe also reactive, did they see any fluctuations in the quarter hour ratings breakdowns especially Sydney or Melbourne and lifts to Sunrise or News Breakfast they want to rid or stabilise, especially pre-7am? But we can see from the data so far everyone is craving Olympics news over general news, though feel they did a decent effort covering the tragedy out of the UK overnight, saw Karl and Sarah after 9:30am cross to a 9News Europe Correspondent on the ground.

Has anyone else tuned out and wishing the real show was on?

On the mornings I sometimes have news on, Today would be my pick and I really haven’t minded how they’ve handled things this week tbh.

It’s fitting with the events that’s happening at the moment and you still get the familiarity of Karl & Sarah at that time of the day for the most part, with semi regular other news updates from Jayne.

I tried News Breakfast briefly this morning and it pales in comparison IMO, never been a fan of ABC’s News personally.

Regular Today viewer but I’ve been turning to Sunrise for my news headlines when I wake up but will change back to Today after the Olympics.

Sunrise has actually be great this week. Covering the perfect amount of Olympics & other news. Despite not being able to show footage, they’re doing a great job!

Agreed and if it wasn’t for this, Sunrise’s numbers might be a lot higher or Today’s lower. As well as that live Olympics swimming finals lead-in definitely helping no doubt.

Karl and Sarah have been flat and dull all
week. They have no idea what they’re making small talk about. Why even have them there? It’s not the Today show… other presenters could have done what they’re doing, but better.

And that set is one big ugly waste of space.
