As a consumer, I WANTED to see an interview like this whereby the ‘CovIDIOT’ (as they’re being dubbed) got roasted and put on the spot for their stupidity and selfishness. Obviously, you’ll have those who think it’s irresponsible to have her on in the first place - but I for one think that it’s one thing to get someone on to spread their “unfounded and bigoted claims”, and another thing to interrogate the person and help viewers distinguish that their is no validity to their claims (which is what the Today Show did this morning).
That’s how I look at it. I respect people may not agree with me though.
I get your point and that’s the argument that is mounted in giving Hanson a platform. But, if that’s why they had her on, today they didn’t even have the audacity to follow through and hold her to account. They pulled the pin.
It’s just the same trick to garner publicity.
I think it’s worth noting this ‘Karen’ wasn’t the one who went into Bunnings and fought with the team at the door. The ‘Karen’ on Today was the other one who was just shopping without a mask on.
I think the two are being confused. Not that one is less dumber than the other.
Agree. And the tactic worked as I have now watched their clip.
But that interview seems like a total stitch up. She was never going to be given an opportunity to explain her point of view and they were always going to cut her off. The incident (despite the ridiculous claims she otherwise makes) was starting to come across as not as bad as the other videos we have seen; she wasn’t challenged upon entry, had been shopping for several minutes before being approached and she claims to have a medical certificate. She also seems to have only turned the camera on when approached rather than entering the store with it recording.
It’s lazy producing, get someone controversial like a Kate Hopkins, show them off, then tut tut their opinions and read viewer feedback.
Its a reason why Sunrise is a shadow of its past with Pell going down the same path often. Lazy tabloid garbage.
Bowland used to reach out and engage with viewers and make them part of the show, those days are long gone sadly.
Nine News in Brisbane featured the interview first on promos for tonight’s news. It even featured a mock of her link going to test-pattern (which didn’t happen).
“Why Channel 9 booted the controversial anti-masker off the air”.
The story ran last in the bulletin.
That shot with the dot-less Nine logo was not what I saw that went to air.
And wouldn’t you think Nine would’ve updated that off air standby image by now?
Hard to feel the ‘karen’ story was anything more than something to grab headlines… why even give people like this a platform to speak. The more oxygen you gives these type of people the more they crave…
Oh my!
I worked for Ellen for 3 years. Can confirm she’s a first class C
Who the fuck is that moron?
That’s Ellen
Interesting to see:
Today had their best week in 3 months and won Brisbane. Sounds encouraging.
But, the ABC is only 4,000 behind.
It was their 3rd consecutive week with every day over 200k. Melbourne remains a problem though with the Brisbane audience often higher.
Wasn’t Melbourne a while back Today’s strongest capital city? Or was that back when Lisa was still in the hosting chair?
Yes, Melbourne was the first city to “make the switch” back to Today in 2007/08, after Lisa joined.
Melbourne liked how Lisa stood up to Karl, according to research conducted by Sunrise revealed by Adam Boland in Brekky Central.
Anecdotally, Melbourne audiences are lower in winter.
