Maybe Brooke Boney can do the news as well as entertainment? But without much sports to cover I think theyāll keep Alex occupied with news duties.
Iād be inclined to say no, especially given the ratings of late and the possibility of there being something like $30-40 million worth of cutbacks at Nineās news/current affairs division soon.
While three days isnāt really enough time to test a potential cast change on-air, it personally wouldnāt surprise me if DC gets promoted to the main program within the next year or two. Despite Karl having his vocal fans, I think most viewers have well and truly moved on from him now.
I thought the move to North Sydney was supposed to happen during the 2nd half of this year, but of course itās possible that the pandemic has delayed those grand plans.

Studio 23 (the one they are currently using) is automated on the floor but the control room is still manually operated, I believe.

If they make even one more presenter swap then just end it all together and fill the time with something else.
Surely David taking over Today must happen with the show now #3 in timeslot. Karl is an expensive contract that Nine doesnāt need.
Move Dickie into Today Extra (or have two females host Today extra that would work too, maybe move Brooke there?) New team for Weekend Today as the current one is terrible.

Dickie is not the answer.
Thatās why I suggested Brooke and Sylvia or Sylvia and Belinda as well, move Dickie back to the entertainment beat.

I would fix weekends first before even considering throwing away Karl.
Dickie and Rebecca, who the hell thought of that? They are great people but donāt suit the role whatsoever. Especially with ongoing news coverage.
They need journalists in these shows, not TV personalities or entertainment reporters. Nine really donāt understand this.

If in the event Nine does make any changes, Iād keep Rebecca Maddern (sheās a journalist, has presented Seven News/Sunrise while she was at Sunrise and was great at it) and bring in someone like Tom Steinfort, Charles Croucher, Clint Stanaway or maybe even consider David Campbell or Brett McLeod.
Richard doesnāt suit Weekend Today where he looks awkwardly serious and just doesnāt seem to gel with the team. Get him back on what heās known for, entertainment.
Though I doubt Nine would make any changes to their weekday/weekend line-up unless absolutely necessary.

I wouldnāt pick any of the people above except David and maybe Charles? I feel like he would bring good energy to a morning program.
The loss of Sonia and the constant revolving door of hosts has damaged these two shows for a long time. The worst thing to do is change the weekday hosts again. I personally enjoy the weekday team, itās just people arenāt tuning in.

I enjoy Karl and not so much David especially in the way he voiced his concerns on Sonia years ago. Stick to the current team and bring in a newsreader, not sure why itās taking a long time.
In terms of weekend, loving Rebecca Maddern and maybe needs a new co-host.
Hereās my theory. Iām guessing if SJ is back from her maternity leave. Maybe Belinda will take on the newsreader role

Perhaps after Sonia Krugerās infamous commentary about Muslim immigration after the Nice terror attack in July 2016?
But do David and Belinda have chemistry? Why would they rock that boat?
