They fell for it? They say that like itâs not their job to fact check and verify news before putting it to air. Not only is the Facebook page very clearly labeled Satire/Parody, but the post itself reads as a joke.
I donât know whatâs worse, the fact this got to air, or the fact a supposedly reputable news organisation can just laugh it off as a joke that they got tricked. Seriously worrying.

Itâs just a mistake in a rush to be first on the news- they didnât do it purposely. Was that apology made on air? I agree that they shouldnât have joked about it though.
Media Watch is going to have a field day with this next week.

For sure, Iâm not saying they did it on purpose. And this particular news item was a fluff piece, so there were no consequences of reporting it incorrectly. But my point is, if their fact checking process, or lack thereof allows mistakes like this to get to air in the first place, it doesnât say much about their credibility as a whole.
Today slips in metro viewers, to the same number delivered by Georgie Gardner and Deb Knightâs final outing.

That article is poorly written. How can the ratings for Today have slipped when they were lower last week? It also omits adding the ABC 24 ratings to ABC Breakfast.
