Pfft sheâs barely a Sydney presenter these days.
Iâve seen more of Mark Burrows doing her Fri/ Sat this year than Deb.
Plus, theyâre all the weekday presenters doing today. Peter should (and hopefully will) be there. He was great on the show in the old days.

Now that I think about it, I think Peter Overton filled in for GG (who was filling in for Karl IIRC) back in 2009, presumably in an effort to make himself more known in Sydney. I think he mightâve made it into an episode of Today Show Funny Bits.
EDIT: He was there for Lisaâs famous âlate night with youâ comment directed at GG. Ah the good old days.

Nine needs to concentrate on building the profile of talent they plan to have on the show regularly instead of dropping interstate anchors into the show for cameo appearances. Whatâs the point of promoting faces that are not familiar to viewers outside the states in which they read the news and will be unlikely to reappear again?
They have learned nothing from the Karl and Lisa debacle about succession planning and getting their viewers used to the people they plan to have fill in regularly for the current team. You donât see this bullshit on Sunrise because they have a well established team of backup presenters.

Although Mark Burrows has been seen on-air considerably more frequently since about March 30 when the odd days and regular weekends steadily increased, I can confirm that Deborah Knight has presented the most Friday/Saturday night editions of Nine News Sydney since mid-January when she joined Today as a co-presenter.
Having given thought about this âlocal newsreader weekâ a bit more, Iâm going to say that someone from the Southern NSW/ACT bulletins or NBN News should be given a go at presenting the news on Today rather Peter Overton. Vanessa OâHanlon? Or remember how good of a job Jane Goldsmith did presenting Nineâs Early News in April last year?!
Today is an extremely Sydney-centric breakfast show at the best of times, so I really donât think we need to see an edition with Georgie, Deb, Tom and Peter Overton on news!
The last thing Today viewers need is Michael Thompsons yelling at 5:30 in the morning.

Tim has been on Weekend Today weather since March this year.
I actually think Melissa would be ten times better than Andrew. During the drought telethon (was it last year?) And each year at Riverfire she really drives the broadcast with Lofthouse along for the ride.
Because the news reading role is a mans role on the show these days as there are two women hosts.
I donât think Iâve seen a woman present the news since the new team started.

The one thing that Iâm finding annoying this morning is, they keep talking and laughing over the live crosses, with guests, the sports and weather presenters.
It comes across confusing and awkward at times.
Yeah, that happens a lot and it throws the guests off. Especially when there is s satellite delay.
Yep. And Wendy Kingston would be 100x better than either of them- she could co-host segments too and has worked with Deb before.
Iâm not arguing with you, because that is that they seem to be doing, but it is stupid. First of all, there arenât two female hosts next week, it will be Tom and Deb/Ally. And, if there are 3 females and Stevie, who cares? As Iâve said before, by only using a male newsreader, you are scraping the bottom of an already smaller talent pool.
