That voiceover at the start is a little too fast and the music a little too chirpy for the lead story.

Thursday (11.07.2019): Allison Langdon and Mark Burrows are co-hosting with Tom Steinfort this morning. Tony Jones is rostered on sport today.

Was it mentioned if Georgie was sick or on assignment?
I’ve noticed Tony has been doing Thursday’s lately.
Anyway it’s great to have Allison filling in this morning.

No. I think Deb will be back next week and Georgie will be on holidays, and she is just commencing them from today. Could be wrong though.

Indeed. Now that Tom is third co-host, it doesn’t make sense to bump him around the desk when Georgie or Deb are away, anymore. Have Mark fill in for Tom every time he is away and Allison fill-in every time Georgie is away. Even better would be Ally being the main fill-in for all three if them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve been off work this week so I’ve managed to see the show everyday.

I’ve come to the conclusion it’s not the presenters that’s wrong with the show.

It’s very messy in its content and appearance.

You have the 3 presenters (which looks fantastic. It’s a great camera angle and Tom needs to stay in the middle when Georgie and Deb return). This change is working.

Tom is a great talent. He basically steers the show in direction from that middle hosting position. Moving him more into that role would be a good thing.

Now onto the negatives.

It’s disjointed in many ways. You have Tony in Melbourne doing Sport whenever it suits, if you’re going to have a dedicated sports presenter, they need to be in studio with the team, 5 days week. Continuing with sport, it needs to be shown every half hour. For example this morning there was no sports update at 6am block and 8:30am. Why? (Yes, I know Tony needed to be back for 3AW Mornings. Don’t have him on then if he can’t commit to the full program). It’s messy and disjointed. News, sport and weather. That’s how it needs to be every half hour.

Stevie. He was fantastic in his prime and would have competed well against Sam Mac back then but unfortunately he’s getting older now and the role requires an energetic personality if they are going to stay out of the studio. Tim Davies fill that void.

Stevie would be more suited replacing Amber Sherlock on Sydney’s 6pm bulletin.

Graphics. Not warm and welcoming enough for a breakfast show. A bit of colour and less “blocky” design would be great. 2012 graphics were great.

Set. This is one of the shows biggest problems. It’s horrible. And the camera transitions where you see all the camera men and equipment gives off the vibe that it’s a studio. Obviously it’s a studio but they need to have a set designed in a way where it’s a home. Apartment set did that very well.

Brooke is okay but needs more experience and time. Relegate her to Weekend Today entertainment and bring Richard back full time until a time where Richard retires.

Now onto the Karl factor. I strongly believe they are planning on returning him to the program next year. I just don’t know where he’ll fit in. Will Tom have to leave? Or will Karl be added as the 3rd presenter with Tom strictly on news? Who knows. The show does need a “light” personality and Karl brings that.

2020 needs (another) massive change. Set, graphics, Karl etc. I know they’re moving soon but I don’t think the show can wait for that.

Weekend Today is great though. David and Allison are a great team. Tim is fantastic on weather but Jayne needs to go.

i disagree with the bring back karl , i dont think karl will be back not what after hes being saying , hes happier not being with today so he wont be back.and people need to get over this quickly rather then later.i know todays demo is supposed to be women but thats not the case . i do believe that today is skewing to the the lates 30 and even to the 60s and 70s , where as sunrise is more for people under the late 30s and i think thats whys todays ratings is low . i know im 35 and relate to people and presenters my age and up hence why today would be good

and i love weekend today more then weekend sunrise David Campbell can be quite funny and entertaining

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read on this forum.

Wow Kochie is old! How do people relate to him? Surely he will be gone soon?

You obviously have never read the Macquarie Sports Radio thread.

Better tell Alan Jones that then.

Highest rating broadcaster in Sydney.

Ages means nothing…

Better tell that to Mel Doyle then. Age can be a factor.

She was moved on cause the boss wanted his bestie in the role. I don’t believe it was an age thing in that instance.
