Today (2015-Sept 2020)

They are the perfect duo. Would be awesome to see them both on The Project, or another project in the distance future!

Georgie cops a bad wrap but maybe Lisa was sick of being Karl’s second fiddle too?

We all look back at Jessica Rowe’s appointment to the show as a mistake. Patrice Newell’s time on the show was also a lowlight in its history. She was awkward, unnatural, lacked rapport with Liebmann and was totally out of her depth. Liz Hayes was a breath of fresh air when Nine abruptly decided to remove Newell in November 1986. It had become clear Liz was the obvious person to host the show when she filled in for Newell throughout 1985. I’d rank her as the best Today co-host in the show’s history. I’d love to see Nine use her as a fill in for Georgie and Deb so she can show them all how the show should be done.

She had been an SBS newsreader prior to Today, is that right?

Weekend newsreader and hosted a current affairs show for SBS. She had also been at Seven before that.

Patrice Newell had appeared in ads for Macleans toothpaste and Bounty during her modelling days.

The funny thing is Seven had groomed Newell for a possible news reading role but overlooked her when they were searching for a new newsreader to present a revamped Newsworld. Newell replaced the person at SBS who took that role with Seven, Karina Kelly. She would go on to present Seven’s news with Ross Symonds (for less than a year) when the bulletin expanded to one hour in December 1984.

One guest stretched across 20 minutes (broken up by commericials and news breaks) is a little much, don’t you think?

Where abouts in Auckland?

Today was more than 100k behind Sunrise for Wednesday, falling in the 180ks. With the new co-host announcement on the ABC, News Breakfast grew from Tuesday and was less than 15,000 behind Today.

When News Breakfast gets that close, Today usually losses Melbourne and Adelaide.

The Civic Theatre.

Brooke announced the stage production War Horse is coming back to Australia in 2020.
She is in NZ for the productions premiere and interviewed the puppeteers this morning.
