I don’t recall anyone suggesting Shane would be the answer to Today’s woes.
Just the rumours he was joining the show.

Friday (26.04.2019): Tom Steinfort is co-hosting with Deb and Brett McLeod on the news and sport. Lara Vella is still doing the weather.
Richard Wilkins is presenting Entertainment today, with Brooke away, live from Jamaica ahead of his James Bond exclusive interview.
Those grey on white graphics are really hard to read.
I wonder if this was co-operated by MGM, whom Nine still have a content supply deal with. Surely not a coincidence. And he got there awfully fast (a heads up maybe?)
In the same fashion as Academy Awards (licenced by Disney) who lock out other networks to be on the red carpet, etc except Nine, who have the rights.
I thought the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sold their own rights to Nine.
Nope, Disney.
NB/ Not part of their recent deal though, as they’ve now been airing it for some years.
Quite possibly. Wilkins gets a lot of those junkets himself though.
This would have all been in planning for months so I doubt he was caught by surprise.
Saturday -
Lara is reading news and sport this morning.
Sunday -
Julie Snook is presenting sport outside Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.
Didn’t realise the Royal Easter Show is finished?, or is something else on in the area today?
It’s Nine’s new thing where the sports presenters on Today read the sport from outside a stadium, whether Melbourne or Sydney.
It adds a lot to the program.
The netball is at that arena today- which Julie Snook hosts.
So what sport is Tony Jones there to present when he is reading the sport for Today during the week from outside a stadium in Melbourne?
Some positive news for the TODAY show…
Would you say that Today’s victory in the Sydney market might have something to do with the fact FTA TV viewers in this market have developed a preference for most content on Nine (news, sport, primetime) in recent years?
Huge victory? Did we read the same report?
Amended! The general point still remains though.
It’s a good question and I don’t think it’s a simple answer. The Nine News brand is very strong in Sydney and that could be a factor. It’s also holidays and that skews things, but TODAY has been more competitive in Sydney than any other market.
It was also interesting this happened on a week where Tom and Deb were hosting… wasn’t it Sam and Nat on Sunrise?
