Lisa did say he was finalising a report for 60 Minutes, which he did do a few weeks ago, and as @salty said will be back tomorrow. The article is a load of rubbish, as if it were true he would have had yesterday off.
How does âToday Perth Newsâ fit into the rest of the show? When does it come on, and does it replace or delay parts of the main show?
Did I read that Karl was away yesterday?
If so, interesting that the show won by a huge 44,000 - is that despite or because??
Today Perth News should TO a local weather and traffic flipper in that white box area
Why donât other cities try local today show inserts
Yes Karl was away and Sylvia co-hosted with Lisa. IIRC, every time these two gals host Today flog Sunrise in the ratings.

I am not sure about this year, but when Tim was hosting the local insert was used at 7.00-7.30 and 8.30-9.00. From what I have seen, Karl and Lisa use to do a personal cross for Perth viewers and to Tim McMillan. I also remember reading that Today ran from 5.30-9.30 in Perth, which was due to the half-hour inserts. This year, I am pretty sure they shortened it to 15 minutes, however I am not sure how often they appear.
I personally believe Today should do local news for each city, every hour as a point of difference to Sunrise. As for Today Perth News, I think it could work in QLD with Aislin Kriukelis, but I donât think it is a necessity for us with local news at 11.30; 4pm and 6pm.
If you ask me, Perth really needs to have itâs own versions of Today and Sunrise (not just the news, the full program) rather than a 2-3 hour tape delayed version of the Sydney show. But I strongly doubt that will ever happenâŚ
I have thought about it, and for Nine Natalia Cooper would be a great host. However, why I donât think such an idea eventuates is because Perth viewers would feel they are âmissing outâ. What Nine do is pretty reasonable, IMO.
It could be a Perth and Adelaide version.
Do you really think the Perth market could sustain itâs own local versions Today and Sunrise?
Perth could do 6-7 local and then air the final fluffy hour of national Today.
Karl was doing an interview with Olivia Newton John, but wow itâs not like News Corp to write complete and utter shite now is it?
I donât think local editions of Today and Sunrise are needed. The national editions cover the big news, big events, big guests - local editions could not compete with that. Karl, Lisa, Kochie are all pretty popular - I think it would be ratings suicide to pull them off the air.
Local 3-5 minute inserts every 30 minutes would be great though, imagine âToday in Sydneyâ or âToday in Queenslandâ or âSydney Sunriseâ, âAdelaide Sunriseâ - would be great.
In all honesty though, I remember when watching the show a few years ago, Karl would frequently not wear his wedding ringâŚThere werenât any divorce rumors then.
Have a look at approx 0.44; although it is a poor quality video, Iâm pretty certain that he does not have a wedding ring on.
EDIT: Also interesting to note that a photograph used in a news.com.au article, featuring Karl and his family at a musical circa 2012, also has him without wearing his wedding ring.
The show will be back on the road next week for another round of We Love Australia.
Monday: Kimberley region, WA
Tuesday: Coober Pedy, SA
Wednesday: Bondi Beach, NSW
Thursday: Birramung Marr, Melbourne CBD
Friday: Deniliquin Ute Muster, NSW
After winning Mon-Wed, Today fell in a heap on Thursday, 42,000 behind. However, they will need a similarly bad result today to lose the week. If they win, that would be 20 survey weeks won incl Olympics.
Saturday (24.09.16): With Pete in the U.S right up until Thursday, Deb is hosting solo with Clint Stanaway is presenting sport from Melbourne (what he should do every weekend, but anyway).
Sunday (25.06.16): Clint Stanaway is co-hosting with Deb.
Nice little F-bomb by Mikey Robbins just then. Last we see of him lol
Do you just keep repeating that he should do sport every weekend until someone agrees?
Itâs not necessary unless Pete is away, as having someone in Melbourne is too disjointed when Pete can easily read sports news.
As you can probably see, I just copied and past last weekendâs post that I posted and pasted it in this weekend as the information is the same. That is why it is said twice.

Honestly, two or three people could do an entire breakfast show, but it doesnât work. Yes, having a sports presenter isnât necessary but it would be better, especially when both Weekend Sunrise and Weekend Today have/had 5 presenters.
If they were going to have a sports presenter, theyâd have someone in Sydney.
While Sunrise have Sam Armytage and Sam Mac in the flood affected regions, Today have their Sydney Reporter Lara Vella in Forbes with Chris Urquhart returning to cover the rest of NSW news this week. But is that adequate? Sunrise are calling it a âFlood Emergencyâ and that it is expected to intensify throughout the week. When Today was live in QLD during the 2011 Floods and in VIC for the bushfires ( I know these floods arenât as bad ATM), you would expect equal coverage for your number 1 rating city.
