Today (2015-Sept 2020)

Why? He’s a public figure and extremely well known in the community. Of course Sunrise will cover it.

I’m no fan of celebrity gossip but this certainly fits the criteria. It would be weirder if Sunrise didn’t cover this.

MORE ‘WE LOVE AUSTRALIA’ ADVENTURES AHEAD FOR TODAY

From Monday 26 September

The TODAY show are packing their Akubras and R.M. Williams gear and setting off on their next WE LOVE AUSTRALIA trip, beginning Monday, September 26.

Broadcasting LIVE on the Nine Network, hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson, together with Richard Wilkins, will explore some of Australia’s most picturesque regions, starting with Western Australia’s stunning Kimberley. Setting out from Lake Argyle, the team will visit the amazing El Questro Station and check out some of the awe-inspiring backdrops used in the movie, Australia.

Karl and Richard will also head out into croc territory for a boys fishing trip. What could possibly go wrong?

Then it’s off to Coober Pedy, South Australia’s opal mining mecca. Karl, Lisa and Richard will explore the town’s multi-million-dollar gemstone business as well as checking out the moon-like underground “dugouts” where 70 per cent of the population live. They’ll also stop by one of the world’s strangest golf courses and meet a man with the toughest mail run in the country.

From there Australia’s number one breakfast show heads to the world’s number one beach – Bondi. The team will be joined by surfers, lifesavers, gym bunnies and a host of colourful locals right next to the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club for a beach party like no other. Sylvia Jeffreys will also drop by to take viewers on a tour of the secret Bondi spots she loves to visit.

The team then head south to join in all the AFL Grand Final fun, live from Birrarung Marr just behind Federation Square in Melbourne. They’ll be joined by some of the game’s biggest names and will offer TODAY show viewers on the ground the chance to win tickets to the annual Collingwood Grand Final Breakfast, as well as the spectacular AFL Grand Final Footy Show.
After Melbourne, next stop is country New South Wales for the world-renowned Deniliquin Ute Muster.
There will be lots of true-blue Aussie entertainment throughout the week, including a performance by legendary band ICEHOUSE, Shannon Noll, and a special guest appearance by country music superstar Keith Urban.

As always there’ll be loads of prizes to give away, including Dickie’s Double Dip, The Block of Cash and a new Isuzu ute.

Lisa Wilkinson said: “What better way to paint a picture of this amazing country and its ridiculously brilliant people than to head to places like Lake Argyle in the stunning Kimberley region, Cooper Pedy in South Australia and Bondi Beach in Sydney.

“We always have a ball on our WE LOVE AUSTRALIA trips and this one looks to be the best yet.”

Karl Stefanovic said: “This WE LOVE AUSTRALIA trip is going to be epic. I can’t wait to check out this wide, brown land again, from the moment I set foot in Western Australia until we’re let loose at the Deniliquin Ute Muster. I have my blue singlets packed and my guitar ready to go. Look out.”

Official sponsors for the week include Tourism Western Australia, South Australian Tourism Commission, Edward River Council, QT Hotel Melbourne and the Lake Argyle Resort.

TODAY’S WE LOVE AUSTRALIA WEEK:

Today Perth News now using the proper Today show graphics. Some technical problems occurred.

Wouldn’t be a new studio without some gremlins in the system!

Those camera shots of Tracey in the beginning & the live cross are too low and not a very flattering angle.

Good to see them using the correct graphics now, looks so much better.

Interesting that those weather graphics are still using the old style

What is Dickie’s Double Dip?

I’ve always thought “Today in Perth” would be a better title
I would agree when they were doing the long 30 minute bulletins but now that they are about 15 minutes and mainly consist of news, I understand the title.

What is Dickie’s Double Dip?
A game show imitation where audience members have to pick two of Dickie’s match balls to win. It has been going for about a year now and only feature during OBs.

Tuesday (20.09.16): Sylvia is co-hosting with Lisa as Karl is on ‘assignment’. Deborah Knight is on the news (glad they are now using Deb regularly, hopefully they continue to do so over summer).

The 3d effects on the video wall trying to replicate that of the Sydney Today Show doesn’t look right with all the joins of the tv screens, likewise why don’t they have weather information under the 9 logo on the RHS side of the screen? Really mot a fan of the giant white box with nothing in it similarly to that of the 6pm news. I don’t think it’s neseccary for the strap above the supers to say ‘Today Perth News’ either when the Today logo is sitting right next to it, could easily just read Perth News or nothing - it’s pretty clear what people are watching.

Otherwise it’s looking pretty good.
