And last night Todd offered the contestant 1 counter for $40,000 when the jackpot counter was 2 pushes away.
I don’t know why they bother with such ridiculous offers when it’s practically impossible for it to happen.
It’s a bit of an insult to everyone’s intelligence really.
It’s the only flaw I can see to an otherwise engaging game. If the player is weak with the questions and/or unlucky with the drops, the counter remains on the top shelf and it very quickly becomes a dud ending. That and they often have made around a quarter of the jackpot so the risk element just isn’t enough - who would say no to a free 4-5k for a day out?
Still enjoying it all though. Todd really in his element now
And last night Todd offered the contestant 2 counters for $40,000 when the jackpot counter was still on the top shelf. Honestly it’s pretty stupid that Todd plays jackpot temptation when the jackpot counter is still on the top shelf.
Agree, you’d need to offer at least 3 or 4 counters first up as a minimum to have any credibility in that instance.
National win by +120,000 and highest ever Thursday rating yesterday.
Just putting it out there for comment, but do we need almost daily posts on the ratings?
Would this type of commentary be better placed in the relevant ratings thread?
I think it’s worth noting import milestones like the record rating recorded yesterday. Not everyone reads the ratings threads and not in detail. There is a lot of discussion in this thread about the longevity of the show and the rating trajectory upwards seems worthy of contributing.
I appreciate the updates, it triggers me to go look at the dailies. This is big for Nine…such momentum in the lead up to Olympics. I wonder if the time TP is off air then the situation could shift? Or will it just pick back up again?
Week 25, just finished was Tipping Point’s highest rated. It included the highest rated episode ever of the show (including last year’s prime time) on Monday and the highest rated Thursday and Friday episodes of the year.
I’ve made a graph of the weekly Total TV average ratings across the year. Note that The Chase dipped in week 24 because it was not shown in Melbourne on Monday of that week.
Plenty might argue, naturally, it’s ‘the show’ or ‘the content’. But the host, especially a game show where they’re hard to un-link from one another and they drive the show… Makes me think Todd Woodbridge has suddenly become one of Nine and TV’s biggest or most important network stars?
Bet even he can’t have imagined back in mid-2018 when he defected from Seven to Nine something like this would be on the cards, nor how it is performing!
Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) mainstream media isn’t reporting on its success much, yet, usually News Corp are all over stuff like this, but probably because anti-Nine. But some others outside MS are:

Maybe 7 could look at bringing The Finish Line game show to counter TP’s success.
What’s The Finish Line?
Edit: googled and it’s made by the same people as The Chase. Has been commissioned for a second series.
I know it’s abit left field but game show gimmicks are in, then this should be one to counter it, just my thoughts. Also I didn’t realise it was made by The Chase, the more you know.

TODD’S BIGGEST TEMPTATION OFFER IN TIPPING POINT HISTORY
WEEKNIGHTS AT 5.00PM ON CHANNEL 9 AND 9NOW
Viewers will be treated to an emotional and electrifying episode of Tipping Point Australia tomorrow, Tuesday, June 25, at 5.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
This episode will showcase the game’s largest ever jackpot temptation offer from Todd.
Playing head to head are 52-year-old psychic medium and energy healer from Victoria, Simone De Haas, 73-year-old cabaret performer Yvonne Britain from South Australia, and 28-year-old community engagement officer from Victoria, Alex Jovanovski.
In a heartwarming episode, Simone, supported by her family, is playing for a trip to Disneyland to honour her late daughter, Lily, who tragically died in 2017 at the age of seven. Lily’s dream was to go to Disneyland but she was too sick to get there.
Determined to make the trip to Disneyland to celebrate what would have been Lily’s 15th birthday, the spiritual healer shakes off the chakras and guides herself all the way through to the jackpot round, where Todd puts forward an offer that will make her wish come true and more.
Will Simone be tempted to take the temptation offer and fulfil her daughter’s cherished dream?
Join host and tennis legend Todd Woodbridge tomorrow night for a series first on Tipping Point Australia.
The first Olympic special will feature retired swimming champions Libby Trickett, Emily Seebohm and Blake Cochrane.
If it’s the biggest temptation let’s say $60,000 or $80,000 what could he offer in the future to top that haha
Spoiling the winner of the episode - that’s a bit desperate really. The ratings show there is clearly no need for that kind of stunt.
P.S. How has airing an Aussie version at 5pm affected the ratings of the UK version at 3pm?
