Tipping Point

And I don’t believe it was named Margaret Court Arena until a few years later.

There was a few in that episode that had NFI about anything. They really scraped the barrel of intelligence with some of these contestants. It was infuriating.

Interestingly on the UK version it can often be the source of some hilarious moments. One guy when asked on what date Christmas Day is celebrated, answered “Wednesday”

But I agree, here for some reason it just tends to be frustrating

The issue is 9 never sticks to the original format they always modify it thinking it will entice viewers more. Which is not the case.

I’m a fan of the UK version and when I told my nan and she saw the launch adverts she even said they always have to ruin it and it won’t work as well as the UK version.

Why try and fix a thing which is not broken? I get they wanted an Aussie spin on it but compare it to The Chase that is the same format as the Uk version and it works fine.

In Nine’s defence, the end game of the UK version wouldn’t cut it as a news lead in. It’s often anti-climactic and you know a few question categories out that the person isn’t going to win. The ‘jackpot temptation’ at least adds some element of jeopardy.

Another tennis-related question on tonight’s episode, which was:

Todd: Dubbed the Special K’s are the Australian doubles tennis team of Thanasi Kokkinakis and who else?
Contestant: Nick Kyrgios

And for the second time this week, there was also a Spice Girls-related question.

Tonight’s episode was also the first in the Australian version in which the contestant declined the Jackpot Temptation at the end. Unlike the UK version, the three counters are not played to see whether the contestant would’ve won.

Note: going forward I will blur out questions, episode outcomes etc so as to not spoil it for those who haven’t seen the night’s episode yet and are planning to catch up later.

But why are we analysing the questions in every episode?

Didn’t Todd Woodbridge film some episodes from England (like a “pilot week” as such) with Aussie ex-pats some time ago? I wonder if Nine will air these episodes?

Similarly, Todd was once a contestant on Nine’s version of Weakest Link not very long ago.

Just to get a gauge on what type of questions are asked on the Australian version in comparison to the British version.

That’s what I’m wondering too.

I wonder if they are the ones that appeared in the original promo (below), as i haven’t seen these contestants yet? (though I didn’t watch it today)

They spoiled the winner from an ad which aired at 3pm. Whyy!!

Seven used to do that with The Chase back when they made individual or weekly promos. Was annoying

Any episodes that have no crowd in the background were filmed on the UK set.

Guessing “#1 New Show” is basically just saying they beat Deal or No Deal, which isn’t really new anyway.

? It has been beating The Chase in 5 city ratings.

But “New” show.

Not that that is a metric that means anything

And you could argue it’s not really a new show as well, it’s just a local version of an existing British one.

Seven sprouted The 1% Club as Biggest New Show of 2023.

Nine are now doing the same for The Tipping Point Australia. Just trying to say how successful the show is…

Yes. Are there any other new shows?
