Mhhm we see claims about innovative storytelling and audience engagement all the time but they often don’t last long, given it will be fronted by Sam I daresay the bulletin won’t be too different.

From yesterday’s Stuff article:

[Laura] Tupou will be ThreeNews’ 30-minute-long weekend bulletin presenter.

Quite surprised they’re doing weekend bulletins - just assumed it would be cut to weekdays only.

Out of interest, will they carry news updates through late afternoon and early evening?

I don’t think anything’s been said about updates. There could be, but I imagine they’ll be pre-recorded.

I’d be incredibly surprised if there is anything other than the 6pm bulletin. I’m sure there will be promos for 6pm, if that’s what you mean by updates? But nothing more substantial than that.

The current ones are prerecorded too.

Can’t see why they wouldn’t still air updates late afternoon while they’re prepping the bulletin, and pre-record some early/late evening ones.

They basically act as promotions and remind viewers that there is still a news service on Three, I can’t imagine they’re very expensive to produce.

I’m talking about a pre recorded news updates at say 5.00pm / 5.30pm on what’s coming up on the 6.00pm news. And pre-recorded news updated during the evenings at say 8.00pm for example.

Just heard a radio ad for Three News on The Rock.

Not bad, a good USP with their “‘more reporters on the ground across the country” which may be true but majority of them wouldn’t be broadcast journos.

Also interesting they mention ThreeNow and then Tree, part of the stations ‘stream first’ strategy you’d have to think despite where audiences overwhelmingly still are for news content.

Simple yet effective - looks great, can’t wait to see it in higher quality.
