Due to WIN’s EPG being reliably wrong, and the series link with Fetch never functions as it should on WIN (all non-Ten channels are fine), I near missed the end of Wrong Girl and was a second away from having to watch the last bit on Ten Play as I have had to in the past. I record and watch catchup, depending on my circumstances.
Disagree. Nothing is ever completely irreparable but the continual laziness and lack of effort has had detrimental effects on tv drama. Sure programmes not starting on time has had adverse consequences but to blame them for people not watching is bullshit. The Bachelor is a perfect lead in, it rates well and does great in the demos. The Wrong Girl should have been the perfect ac-compliment only The Wrong Girl is a terrible Australian drama filled with endless cliches, woefully written female protagonists and trite storylines. It also didn’t warrant a renewal so Ten shouldn’t be acting shocked it collapsed in a heap.
The reason why Australian drama hasn’t rated very well in the past few years is because the writing is severely lacking. In most cases it’s embarrassing and terrible. I actually think CBS involvement in Ten is going to be a great thing and hopefully kick Ten’s drama slate into gear.
Too many people are expecting miracles from CBS in every area. I hope people are right but based on past experience, I seriously doubt it.
Iview is a better platform to watch things online as opposed to tenplay but ABC has no ads so I reckon most people would watch Glitch live over Wrong Girl (with ads,)
Another Wrong Girl actor will be in two dramas at the same time in vastly different roles
Also seen in Glitch is Rodger Corser looking a bit different to his role in Doctor, Doctor.
No I’m not expecting miracles, but I am expecting CBS to understand the importance of creating Australian scripted content that doesn’t appeal to one very narrow demographic and keep poor performing shows passed their sell by date because they are too lazy to put the effort in to commission something else.
CBS keeps plenty of dramas going even when ratings have dropped. As I said,I hope you’re right but let’s see.
Yes to get numbers for syndication purposes and that they keep making money for CBS. If CBS gives some Australian productions that chance it would really reinvigorate the Australian industry. Longer seasons, more episodes equal more money being pumped into the economy which is always a good thing even if the shows suck. Though even CBS wouldn’t have renewed the Wrong Girl.
I don’t think CBS will be some mega messiah fixing all problems and pumping millions upon millions into Ten, but they can’t do much worse than we already have and the other alternative with Murdoch and his crony just running Ten into the ground repeatedly like some groundhog day doesn’t bear thinking about.
Don’t be so sure. The American networks have all sorts of reasons for renewing shows and ratings is not always the biggest factor. I don’t think The Wrong Girl is that bad. Sure, there’s a lot of things they could have done better like set in Sydney like the book originally was and not try to make it so much like Offspring which the book wasn’t.
Anyway, there have been worse shows that have run for many seasons here.
Because the book meant nothing, the only reason it was made was because a semi famous person wrote the book. A lot of differences from the book to the TV show. The cook was an Australian ocker bloke, the show was more like The Circle then a breakfast show and Lily never slept with her friend. I still don’t understand how you can adapt a book but change everything about it? I’m not surprised it rating bad… they have no idea about the subject.
That’s not true. It was a best seller. She wasn’t famous before she wrote the book.
Not unique. Practically every book that has ever been adapted into a movie or series is changed in some way. I agree that a lot of the changes may have contributed to bad ratings but it’s not the first time that has happened.
Never understood why they didn’t film in Sydney. The book was set there, the production company & 3 main actors are all Sydney based. TEN, for reasons known to themselves, decided to pander to their Melbourne audience, yet again.
In the end,it makes no difference because the product is crap.
I just said that. Did you not read what I posted?
I don’t really want to rehash why I hate the Wrong Girl from a creative standpoint but I’m glad you find something to like about it. Enjoy the season.
Agree though they usually have much better ratings.
When they have success with a show it’s really annoying when they try to emulate that success by producing clones. They think the audience want more of the same but the truth is they want shows that are different.
Anyone know when they repeat episodes? I’ve been enjoying this season but totally forgot to record it last night. From memory is it late Friday nights on Eleven?
They have encored it at least once late Monday night on Ten. Not sure if they’ll be doing it again tomorrow.
Usually 10.30pm Monday but still TBA in the EPG.
Lily’s Happily Ever After?

Rocked by tragic and unexpected news, waves of grief ripple through Lily and Pete, along with their friends and family.
Despite Pete’s best efforts to push Lily away, the duo are forced to finally confront their true feelings for one another. But will it be the wrong time again?
What will Ten do next, a story told through lots of fart jokes
or a younger man falling for an older woman.

Both (and all her other books) could probably be massaged into sequels to Wrong Girl.
From the article about Love Child being axed:
Marais’s other starring role in Channel Ten’s The Wrong Girl is also uncertain.
A Ten spokesman confirmed a decision had not been made on whether a third season would go ahead.
