The Weakest Link

I believe Seven aired The Chase UK for quite a while before they commissioned a local version. So it’s not exactly the same.

I just don’t see any point in rushing a US version to FTA when a local version is very close to being put into production. It serves no purposes except to over-expose viewers to the format and potentially take the gloss off the local version which is’t very far away.

WL was included in a network promo running late night that I saw during the Funeral Coverage.

I have managed to find the All Saints special of Weakest Link that aired on Seven in November 2001.

This user has also uploaded the premiere episode from February 2001, and the “Best of the Best” episode that aired in December that year.

8:50!! What a crap time

That’s a quick turnaround. TV Tonight says filming began at Melbourne’s Docklands Studios this week.

WOW, that is a quick turnaround.

Should have aired at 8.30pm though, rather that 8.50pm. But we all know that 8.50pm really means 8.59pm due to the overruns of programs that air after 7.30pm.

Does Nine still have a contract with the Studio at Docklands?

Hot Seat is still filmed at Docklands.

I remember back in 2010, Nine had an exclusive agreement to use one of the sound stages for all former Studio 9 productions.

Interesting they’re rushing this to air.

Credit to 9 for adding depth to their schedule to launch this in a post 8:30 timeslot, in that regard they’re doing well.

Airing at nearly 9pm isn’t ideal though, but it should have a nice lead-in.

I’m calling it now: A one season show.

But that’s probably what it’s only design to be.

Nine obviously have a gap in their schedule, and this is a quick light entertainment show to fill that void.

Same reason why Seven recommissioned DWTS.

You think they’re commissioning this to fill a gap post 8:30?

Very unlikely I think, surely they could put some imported content in that timeslot if that was the case.

Which doesn’t rate. International dramas don’t rate on FTA commercial networks anymore.

When was the last time anything started at 8.30? It doesn’t happen. The 7.30 shows these days almost always finish somewhere between 8.40-9.05.

How so? It’s following on from Lego Masters. We learnt from The Cube that gameshows can’t really stand on their own in prime slots anymore but it should do ok with Lego Masters as it’s lead in.

I understand that, but I doubt people will remember to tune in at 8:50 each week…

Nine on Saturdays. After Space Invaders. But that’s about it, unfortunately. I know long gone are the days when weekday shows finish at 8.30pm. Wishful thinking from my end. lol.

I do hope it gets good ratings, after the Lego Masters lead-in.
