I have updated Aleks Waikiki Webserver with the latest Station Logo files. there are still a few local stations who do not have logo support. Am I correct to assume the station Logo is linked to the station PI code. if thats the case these stations are not currently sending PI codes so this may be the issue. most are communety based radio stations but 91.3 Sports FM and 97.3 Coast FM are comercial stations. strange considering 91.7 theWave is a sister station and it has PI codes. I may be wrong here. but thanks for the effort done on this plugin as it is now fast to resolve a logo compared to older versions.
I instaled a audio record plugin as requested.
I have issues with the Analoug Singnal meter plugin not displaying a png when enabled and simalur with Sation memory plugin. Someone may be able to assist me.
If you look at the logos.zip file, i.e make a copy & move it to another folder & then unpack it, you will see that most of the logoās name formats are in the format of [PI code]_[PS Label] as seen on the RDS GUI.
But no 91.3 & 97.3 donāt have RDS, therefore no PI codes or PS. Yeah I though it odd too that sister station 97.3 still doesnāt have RDS.
As some unrelated stations share PI codes the matching PS is also needed to match to the correct logo.
A RDS PI code is a 4 character HEX number (0 to F)
A RDS PS label is a maximum 8 character label
RDS Spy & RDS documents helps one understand RDS better.
Several of the logos taken from the ones Iāve edited or provided on our Australian RDS Sheet, with some 3rd party editing to make the logos appear better on various backgrounds.
Iām not sure how the local station logos are generated for the non RDS stations in a local area. That would be a question for @melb_mateyy0
The logos look to be all PNG format, which is what Iāve provided for the RDS List so as to obtain a clear background in the logos where possible. I need to save them in PNG format rather than another unsupported file format like .jpg to achieve that.
I count about 10 local non RDS stations on your TEF server.
The audio record plugin looks good. Iāll try it during a quieter time.
Stations from the south-west and south are weaker, but stations from all other directions are generally stronger. No additional stations received compared to the omnidirectional loop - apart from getting the Central Coast station instead of the Wollongong stations on 93.3, 94.1 and 94.9.
When using the multimeter, I note that the shield shorts with the centre - not sure if thatās how itās meant to be with this antenna or not.
Not sure whether to have the server on the old antenna, new antenna or both. Main negative of keeping both active is my electricity bill ā as each one is connected to a Windows desktop running 24/7.
This would be a good case for the new headless TEF, I have one of the ones made by Sjef PE5PVB and it has two antenna inputs with a built-in switch (you can control it via the webserver interface). Iām not making use of the switch yet but I have tried it out.
The designs for those should be public hopefully very soon. Iāve been trying to figure out a way of getting some PCBs printed/assembled here in the UK as thereās definitely some interest, maybe you guys will be able to work something out too.
Regarding the chat @cmoore , it does work, but I think people forget it exists! I know Noobish is working on visual notifications though, which may make it a bit clearer.

Thanks for that great plug-in ā Iāve just activated it on my servers.
A question/suggestion ā would it be possible to have an option/setting to have the second and third banks of presets as additional rows so that all the presets are visible without needing to change the preset banks? Thanks!
Although no AM antenna is connected, the TEF also picks up all the Sydney AM stations, if anyone is interested in tuning into them.
Somewhat off-topic ā Iāve also managed to reduce the noise somewhat on my dedicated HF (0-30 MHz) AirSpy server. Itās still not the best, but the AM band now looks reasonably well populated at night:
Itās connected to an MLA-30 active loop antenna at the moment. I have two YouLoop antennas also. They worked better on LF and MF, but were worse than the MLA-30 on HF/shortwave.
The Headless TEF tuner certainly interests me the Dual antenna input is advantages as in theory I could add north and east reception to my setup. the only issue for me is my origunal FM antennas are Horz pol and at least over here most of the better reception from the regional stations are Vert Pol and I can certainly see a difference.
Does it interface via USB and windows like a normal tef6686 or is it arduino based. How is the fireware updated?
Here is a picture of my chrsitmas tree setup its a bit of a mess but works well for me atleast, besides the FM antennas there is a 6mt/2mt abd 70cm vert as well as a Didscone hidden in ther as well DAB dipole and a multitued of msall and large satellite dishes.
Yes, is it now possible with the latest update, but I much prefer to have everything compact and fit on screen without scrolling, for desktop anyway. I think it looks awful, and I personally wonāt be using it like that, but, now you have the choice.
You can now also import/export presets using little buttons (if you have good eyesight) to share between browsers.
Another thing I noticed ā if I use the buttons to store AM frequencies, it rounds it to the nearest 100 kHz - e.g. if I save 576 kHz as a preset, itāll just call up 600 kHz when I click the preset.
Looks like an issue with the Webserver code itself. You can verify this by pressing R (reset data) and it will round up/down.
The new version has a workaround, which sends exactly the same command to the radio, but with the extra decimal places. Also, now with consideration for other bands:
56% of Steam users are running 1920x1080, 20% at 1440p, and only 4% at 4K (2160p). And these are generally gamers with above-average gaming rigs. And even at 4K, running 200% scaling which is effectively browsing at 1080p, is quite common. The trend is slowly shifting, but it will take several years for 4K to be the norm.
Yes, I wasnāt expecting the majority to have 4K displays. I just meant to say that I didnāt realise that on a 1920x1080 display, the UI takes up the whole height of the screen since Iāve only seen it on a 4K display. I think youāve come up with a good solution with the per-user setting.
On another note, Iāve updated the servers and plug-ins to the latest versions for both of my servers. I also managed to get both servers to run off the same computer, so both servers will stay up.
For my HF server with the MLA-30 antenna, Iāve switched it over from the AirSpy R2 to the AirSpy HF+ since itās supposed to have better performance.
I want to put my YouLoop antenna on the roof for AM DXing (since the MLA-30 isnāt as sensitive on MF) and connect it to the AirSpy R2. And also to connect my spare FM S-shaped dipole to my other AirSpy R2 ā but thereās the difficulty/cost involved with getting them up on the roof :/.
Iāve also set up the two TEFs to continuously auto-scan and log RDS entries when no one is connected to the webservers. It should be interesting to see if any DX gets auto-logged. Itās too bad most of the high-powered regional/rural ABC transmitters still donāt have RDS so wonāt get logged even if they show up.
Has anyone tried āLive Map plugginā and if so can they confirm if they have issue when selcting Live Map then attempting to enable scan mode, Scan no longer functions in down freq direction only up scan, well at least on my setup. Exit the interface and opening it again will restore normal functionality.
I was about to suggest asking questions in their Discord, but I see youāve made your way there.
On a previous topic, the noise on the beam is now down to around 2-3 dBf on some frequencies, provided things are very āquietā around the neighbourhood at the time, which is obviously out of my control.
Grab a few dozen assorted ferrite clips, and go nuts. The antenna coax cable and USB cable just before the TEF receiver, computer power cords right where they plug into the power supply, any ethernet cables behind the router, any other USB cables, LED strips, anything you can find that produces a little noise. All these devices together add up, but Iāve managed to suppress the RFI as much as I can. Computer monitors and TVās can also contribute to noise.
I will also mention that, being DX season, a little casual listening is fine, but if you see someone listening for a while who isnāt DXāing, and you want to DX or just scan the band, go for it, donāt hold back. Scanning and DX has priority (I should probably make that clear on the server). Thatās what Iād rather see. I, and many others, didnāt go to all this effort of antennas in the sky just to have it locked on the local Sabrina Carpenter/Dua Lipa FM.
