Thanks. Logo updated on my TEF servers.
This C91.3 Campbelltown logo ‘might’ appear a bit clearer & sharper on the @tvcl TEF webservers? White background with 20% of the logo sharpened.
Thanks for that, @ozbark. I did some digging and managed to find a B&W vector version of the logo in a PDF. I’ve extracted it and coloured it based on your PNG version. SVG for download here:
And PNG version with white background for the station logo plugin:
Well done, even nicer
For the RDS Logo file; this white background 6RTR logo might be an improvement on the last logo re red colour uniformity, (IIRC) for the TEF webservers.
A transparent background RTR logo has also now been added to the 6RTR entry in our RDS List .
Anyone out there able to tell me how you remove the 4 preset icons on the right hands side of the screen on my Webserver. I was not aware of them showing as I run enlarge desktop so they are hidden but someone brought this to my attention today. I can not find anything in plugi or settings to delete them
Rogue Memory Bank removed. It is Plugin “Station Memory Plugin by mateuszz” because I had enhanced the display to 300% as I am using a 42inch UHD monitor, not all plug-ins are displayed on the list? Reducing to 250% brought it up.
I updated the Peak and Small Signal Meter plugins.
Updated the RDS List with a different (later) version of a transparent background 92.1 2MFM logo. The callsign is clearer.
Here’s a couple of grey background versions that might display a bit better on the TEF webservers if anyone wishes to use. Just the external trim differs.
So I’ve finally got the TEF bug and I would like to get a hold of one.
Excuse my questions since I’m pretty new to the TEF world, but I do have a couple
- What is the recommended model of TEF? There’s quite a few on AliExpress that have varying model names and sizes, the most common I saw was the 6686.
- How do these perform on MW / broadcast AM? I know the FM performance based on past readings was very good if upgraded with a better aerial. Since I do like to do a bit of AM DXing and general listening, it would be good to know if I should also get a KiwiSDR to handle the AM side.
Its worth mentioning if they do SW, but that band isn’t a worry for me since I have one of those Jaycar world band radios (AR1748) with pretty decent reception.
There is no internal antenna. They are respectable for AM/SW, but FM is where they excel.
Model guide here: TEF Guide - Receivers - FMDX.org - the Open FM DX Hub!
Depends on the use. For portable use, if you don’t mind a PCB case, the Deepelec is well priced with a numeric keypad & squelch.
I find they work quite well on AM, I can hear a AM station from St George here in Toowoomba that I can’t hear on my car radio
Shortwave isnt to bad, slightly worse then a Jaycar SW radio
But as @AJ1 said FM is where they really shine, I hear stations that I cant hear on any other FM receiver that I own
I have a blue square one (non LNA) which has the V5 hardware for better sound.
FM Reception on all the models is pretty similar, but I’m happy with the blue one and really appreciate the better sound. They are a bit more expensive than other models (around $190-$200).
TVCL3 is up (in private testing for now).
Unfortunately, plugging in the Ethernet cable destroys the reception, adding a ton of noise. I’ve bought a CAT-6 cable which will arrive tomorrow. Hoping it’ll fix the noise situation.
You’re a machine haha.
Speaking of which, and I may have already mentioned this, running an Ethernet port at 100mbit instead of 1gbit does reduce noise. How much depends on each situation, it could very noticeable, it may not help much at all.
Yep, I already tried that and I would say it about halved the noise. But I’m also running an AirSpy server on it and I think that needs the extra bandwidth for when I’m recording the whole baseband.
Webserver 1.3.2 update available with auto kickoff features etc time to play.
Not sure what I did exactly, but I managed to get myself banned from my own server somehow with the new update .
The Wi-Fi on my phone was unstable so it dropped and reconnected a few times, so maybe that’s what caused it.
Testing on TVCL3 going well. It’s getting RDS on Pulse 94.1, Vox 106.9 and HFM 107.1, which my other servers don’t (but maybe it’s tropo).
I’m hoping the block/ban function works properly this time
Well I’ve done it, I’ve ordered one of those silver TEF radios in the end. Can’t wait to get a hold of it and play around with it, and do a field test comparing it to both my Jaycar world-band and the old Sangean PR3-DL.
Good luck, and look forward to hearing your thoughts and findings.
