Read on reddit that an ad for the show showed Mat Rogers?
I didn’t cotton on to who it was but my partner said that someone that was on Survivor was in the promo, so if that’s the case it could be him.
The promo’s airing are using a Casey Donovan cover of the song ‘Heroes’, which I think was what she sang in the memorial section of the Logies a few years ago.
Not him again. We had two seasons of Survivor with him, and he was boring, just controlled the group, and a sore loser both times he got the boot.
I enjoyed the first season well enough, but he is an active deterrent to me not watching the second season.
The first season was okay but definitely felt like it was made up as it went on. There were so many inconsistencies that I hope are ironed out in season 2.
Once again they are promoting it as $1M potential prize money but the format of the show ensures that probably half of that is not even remotely possible.
With LEGO Masters finishing next week, it suggests that The Summit will premiere the following week.
There was an ad this morning on Nine showing that actress Simone Jade MacKinnon (of McLeod’s Daughters fame) will be a contestant of this upcoming season.
Seems like a few “celebs” appearing on this season. Not the direction the show needs to go IMO.
I think the logic that producers are operating under is “it worked for Survivor” … with Survivor doing a few seasons of gimicky casting (especially with the Champions/Contenders seasons) to establish the show.
The Amazing Race Aus also found success with having a celebrity cast, so much so they’re running the same format again this year
I’d rather it be full celebrity or full normal applicants. I’m just not a fan of mixing known people amongst every day people especially with this format where people are cut off randomly constantly. I reckon the more known names will just be dropped earlier on. Like how most of the fitter people were targetted last season and someone that struggled/ really needed the money got it in the end.

Brimming with fresh twists, a dynamic cast and an even more challenging location, The Summit is back bigger than ever after redefining large-scale adventure in 2023. Think you know the drill? Think again. Back guiding us through these heart-pounding trials and daring escapades is Australian actor Jai Courtney.
Everyone faces their own mountain to climb. Among everyday heroes, who will conquer the summit? Will Lochie the dairy farmer seize victory? Can David, a theatre director, and Theo, a stay-at-home dad, craft compelling strategies? Will Mat Rogers, a sporting legend and seasoned Australian Survivor, brave the wilderness once more for victory? Will the quick thinking of actors Olympia Valance and Simmone Jade Mackinnon suffice? And can Tiffani Wood, a former pop star turned devoted mother, rise to success?
Jai Courtney says: "Last year we were just getting started. This year in The Summit we are going sky high. What the trekkers put themselves through, and the effect it has on them as individuals, is truly special to witness. When humans are pushed to their limits and beyond, remarkable things happen.”
Our trekkers will once more be stripped of their creature comforts, plunging into the awe-inspiring landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island. Against this backdrop of natural marvels, a series of jaw-dropping challenges awaits, designed to test their courage and morals, and push their physical limits to breaking point.
With their backpacks containing an equal share of one million dollars, the group must reach the peak of a distant mountain in just 15 days to win the cash they’re carrying.

Since the groundbreaking premiere of The Summit in 2023, the format co-developed between Nine and ESA has been sold to several European territories, including CBS in the U.S.A, with its premiere set for later this year.
The Summit is a 9Network and Endemol Shine Australia (A Banijay company) original series, produced by Endemol Shine Australia.
I guess that’s why some celebrities had been quiet on social media over the past few months.
CBS has revealed that its version of The Summit has been given the Wednesday 9.30pm timeslot, following Survivor, to open the 2024-25 US TV season.
A contestant on this year’s season of The Summit Australia has slammed last year’s South Australian-based winner, saying he could “push (her) down the cliff” after hearing her voice.
Glen ‘Sharksey’ Parkes, a self-proclaimed “unprofessional poker player”, took to an Instagram account on Friday slamming Brooke Kilowsky, 39, from South Australia – one of the show’s winners last year.
This came after Ms Kilowsky posted a preview video detailing her opinions on the upcoming contestants.
I think Nine should be concerned about ratings of the launch episode. The promo campaign for the show looked to be one of the biggest ever for any show I can recall. Last year’s numbers were underwhelming and there was some surprise at the renewal, though potential overseas sales were also in the mix. I’d say Nine would have been expecting better than 3rd place in the timeslot -total people and demos; wonder what numbers were promised to advertisers.
Yeah. There was not that much interest in the first season so it was very surprising it was renewed. It must have been done to guarantee overseas sales.
