The Simpsons

I’m sure Disney would want to make it Disney Plus total exclusivity globally (based on everything they’ve been taking behind the Disney Plus paywall), of course they’ve had to honour various Fox pay and free TV contracts first… Unless of course a broadcaster comes across and offers an insane amount of licencing money for it, but that’d be doubtful looking at how the ratings have been going and I doubt especially FTA here would get the advertisers / audience to remotely even make that price up.

Disney want to retain exclusivity for their streaming service - unless there is a significant change with Disney +, we most likely won’t see it back on FTA or subscription tv again

The Simpsons on 10 wouldn’t even be a blip on the radar, but Disney is definitely feeling the pain of putting every egg in the Disney+ basket.

Either way, I don’t think The Simpsons is main channel worthy anymore. It could be a way to build 10 Shake and also be the transition show between daytime children’s programming and evening adult programming (The Middle just doesn’t feel right for this channel IMO, it can go back to 10 Peach).

Except for the series finale (If they ever make one)…

The Simpsons is a huge pull and often one of the most streamed things on D+, it’s unlikely it’ll go back to FTA.

Times have changed need to let this dream or obsession of getting The Simpsons back on 10 at 6pm.

Yep. But does make you wonder why they’ve allowed Seven to air Walt Disney movies again the past year (although with heavy Disney+ plugs), they still air plenty of Fox movies (but maybe from the lapsing deal - let’s see if they gradually disappear from next week like Simpsons etc too) and other ABC or Fox shows, including 7+ and 9Now recently.

I think it was reported Iger or someone wanted to get back into some licensing, with ‘putting everything into subscription’ not showing svod players amazing financial results lately?

Films are something completely different and I can see them being licensed

This thread is a good giggle and mystery

Selma is a rock spider.

40 seasons of The Simpsons? I kind of don’t see that happening.

I do. Even if it goes to Disney exclusively

Yeah it’s really not that hard to foresee it going to 40

It’s such a huge pull for Disney for streaming and other things like theme parks etc. too valuable as an IP

Dear Disney

The Simpsons hit Season 40

Just wait until Disney find a way to convincingly simulate the voices using AI… :imp::skull:

Not that it would ever have happened but I kind of wish it had ended back when Futurama started. They could have still made the film (probably multiple films) and then triumphantly brought the series for the 20th or 25th anniversary. As it is they’ve just run the whole thing into the ground.
