The Simpsons

I don’t think I’ve seen a new episode after season 12. The vintage Simpsons years.

Family Guy and Bobs Burgers have also been renewed.

Disney will want to milk every dollar from the show and continue the series for the foreseeable future.

The big question is if the show can continue when one of the six main voice actors finally passes away.

How much longer can Julie Kavner keep doing Marge’s voice?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney makes the main voice cast sign a contract allowing them to use AI to generate their voices, even after each of them retire or pass away.

Have you seen recent episodes? It’s apparent in the last couple of seasons she can’t really do the voice anymore and Marge sounds different from how she sounded for the bulk of the series.

I mean FOX was doing the same before everything was sold off to Disney.

So are the episodes on Disney + fast Tracked with the US?

Not quite it seems. I see up to 34x13 on there now. 34x17 (the ep referred to) is on the US Sunday night (Monday morning here). Disney+ says new eps every Wednesday, so they are a few weeks behind at least at the moment.

The Simpsons will finish up on 7Flix on Friday 31 March.

As in Seven no longer have any rights to air episodes?

I’d say so.

It doesn’t appear in the guides after next Friday.

It is not in the schedule anymore, being replaced by Bondi Vet. Also seems that they are showing 4 episodes a day M-T, maybe some sort of farewell?

Family Guy and American Dad are not in the schedule either, however new episodes are allowed to air on Seven IIRC through a life-of-series deal.

Any word on Nine picking up the rights? Surely that’s not the end of FTA Simpsons

Of course if 10 weren’t useless they would already be talking to Disney and getting the show back to 6pm to pair with Neighbours when it hopefully returns to 6:30pm

The Simpsons first aired on Seven through 7mate on 28th February 2018. Must have been a 5 year deal going by the date it ends.

The Simpsons isn’t suitable for FTA main channel programming any more.

As if Disney would let a competitor of theirs in the streaming market have free-to-air rights.
