I thought the same but it appears Seven, Nine and Ten aren’t fast tracking a single thing this year.
Just a heads up for @Sifon that The Simpsons begins on 7flix in just under an hour.
Just saw a promo for The Simpsons on 7mate, trying to focus on Maggie. But the interesting part is when the V/O says “Classic Simpsons” at the end. Of course us Simpsons fans believe everything up until anywhere between Seasons 10 and 12 is “Classic” Simpsons, but 7mate are airing Season 20 (a few episodes until the switch to proper widescreen animation) as of now.
In other news, Fox have announced a box set containing the first 20 seasons which boastes “Twenty Seasons and Many More To Come” although that sounds very 2009-ish…
Will “Stark Raving Dad” be excluded?..
Apparently it is included.
Hopefully that episode will reappear on online platforms now that that whole Michael Jackson outrage thing has died.
In what is potentially an Australian FTA record, 11 back-to-back episodes of The Simpsons are on the channels of 7 tonight.
6.30pm Nightly double episode on 7flix
7.30pm-midnight Treehouse of Horror 9 episode Marathon on 7mate
Definitely a record.
I think the closest Ten got was 6 episodes back-to-back for that Cheez TV special?
I do recall FOX8 running an all Simpsons marathon for the whole duration of the 2000 Sydney Olymlpics. 17 days of back to back episodes.
I know Fox8 do marathons, but I think this is a FTA record.
IIRC This Marathon was originally meant to be a look back at the 1st season (which at the time Ten had not shown in several years), but for unknown reasons was changed to a “viewers favourites” compilation at the last minute.
The Season 3 premiere “Stark Raving Dad” which featured the voice of Michael Jackson will be removed when the show launches on the Disney+ platform.
I think that’s fair, given the very inappropriate allegations for such a family platform.
Yes - but there are terrible allegations about many, in many programs.
The Executive Producer has explained why the episode has been removed from circulation in all syndicated runs, streaming services and DVD releases. We don’t need to keep speculating on why.
Lucky I still have Season 3 DVD box set which I brought about 5 years ago then.
Such a dumb idea to start reediting history.
A real slippery slope
Must be very early in '91 as the end tag is still using the 10 TV Australia logo.
In other news…
The show is still rating very well for Fox in the US. I think Disney will want to milk it for all its worth
