The Secrets She Keeps

Well, if you’ve seen the promos of the series then you can probably figure out that the twist is coming. It’s unlikely you would figure that out reading the book since you don’t get upcoming previews.

Wow very good sign for Aussie Drama in the UK. The BBC should look to buy Between Two Worlds and broadcast it after The Secrets She Keeps.

The Secrets She Keeps Season Two. Coming Soon.

Secrets Scores A Sequel

Network 10’s critically acclaimed psychological thriller from 2020, The Secrets She Keeps , keeps on giving, with production of a second season to commence later this year in Sydney, supported by Screen Australia.

Reprising their lead roles are Jessica De Gouw ( Operation Buffalo , The Crown ) as Instagram-perfect mother of three, Meghan, and Laura Carmichael ( Downton Abbey , The Spanish Princess ) as Agatha, an obsessed woman with an unimaginably dark past.

Season two of The Secrets She Keeps kicks off from where we left these captivating characters in last year’s finale; after kidnapping baby Ben and passing him off as her own, Agatha was arrested after Meghan bravely confronted her to retrieve her newborn.

But what about Meghan’s own secret? Who is Ben’s father? And what of Jack’s infidelity? This story is only beginning.

10’s Head of Drama and Executive Production, Rick Maier, said: “Some stories leave you with more questions than answers: What happened to Agatha after the arrest; and what happened to Meghan, baby Ben and their big secret? TSSK2 sets off at a frenetic pace and just doesn’t let up. Sarah Walker, the writing team (including author Michael Robotham) and our friends at Lingo have outdone themselves with this brilliant new thriller.”

Screen Australia’s CEO, Graeme Mason, said: “Series one was a huge success which had viewers both in Australia and around the world gripped following its many twists and turns. We’re proud to support the experienced cast and crew to bring a fresh new chapter of this thrilling Australian psychological drama to our screens.”

The Secrets She Keeps season two is a Lingo Pictures production for Network 10. Major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW.

Great news, but definitely not ideal to have another show with more than a year between seasons airing.

Not surprising considering the international sales and the pretty laughable ending (in my opinion) that left it open for another season…

I’m surprised that they would have enough of a storyline to create a whole second season.

Looks like the second season will go beyond the novel, so it’s up to the writers now.

It’s such a shame that it won’t air until 2022. Australian dramas take too long to produce between seasons. Our networks development processes are horrendous.

This was one show I actually watched via 10play rather than linear.

More details from Screen Australia:

A six-part second series for Network 10, BBC1 and Sundance Now, set two years after Megan Shaughnessy’s son was kidnapped by Agatha Fyfle. Now the two women’s lives collide again, unleashing new secrets and sparking shockwaves for their families.

I think it has more to do with the pandemic interrupting productions everywhere.

Perhaps, but 10 also seem slow to renew their dramas or comedies.

Some Secrets Never Stay Buried.

Season Two of The Secret She Keeps Premieres Exclusively On Paramount+ On Tuesday, 12 July.

Laura Carmichael, British actress and star of the award-wining drama series Downton Abbey, returns to Australian television screens for season two of the critically acclaimed drama series, The Secret She Keeps, premiering exclusively on Paramount+ on Tuesday, 12 July.

Also returning to reprise their roles for the six-part psychological thriller are Jessica De Gouw (The Crown, Underground) as Meghan and Ryan Corr (Bloom, Holding The Man) as Simon. Todd Lasance (Spartacus: War of the Damned, Cloudstreet) joins the cast in the re-cast role of Meghan’s husband Jack.

From the opening moments of The Secret She Keeps season two, we know something has gone terribly wrong for Meghan (Jessica De Gouw). An incident has taken place that will have devastating repercussions for her family and her marriage. In maximum security prison, much-despised inmate Agatha (Laura Carmichael) has a secret of her own, one that makes her desperate to escape to safety.

The complex web of interplay between Meghan and Agatha in The Secret She Keeps season two, will culminate in bone-chilling twists and astonishing turns, while telling their all too human stories.

The Secret She Keeps season two is a Lingo Pictures Production for Paramount+, with production funding from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW. It will screen on the BBC in the UK and Sundance Now in the US with international sales handled by DCD Rights.

The Secret She Keeps season two will join a host of the world’s best entertainment currently streaming on Paramount+, including Tulsa King, Jerry & Marge Go Large, Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber, The First Lady, The Offer, The Man Who Fell To Earth, HALO, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, iCarly, 1883 and Five Bedrooms, with All Star Shore, Tulsa King and Players streaming soon.

I thought season 2 was originally slated for 10??

It seems nothing new in terms of scripted content will premiere on 10.

Repeats of Bull it is then.

I know they’re trying to pump Paramount+ but surely they could have the show premiere on 10 and then drop on P+ after its airing on 10. Gives the FTA audience a chance to watch it first and then subscription right after. Winner winner.

Same with Five Bedrooms.

I don’t like that another FTA drama makes the move to P+, with seemingly no other first run drama to replace it for viewers on 10.

They need a better strategy, second window rights for FTA just doesn’t work. Look at how Five Bedrooms is doing right now. A second window on streaming works better, IMO.

I know some say that streaming is the way of the future but with the way they’re going you’d be forgiven if you thought our commercial networks are deliberately driving FTA drama to death by having it premiere on a streamer first, like 10 and Paramount+.

Yes the focus should be on building streaming but not to the detriment of your FTA platform that you have.
